UD vs. DU
Halftime deficit again, this time 21-14.
The Dukes usually have more size & still do but they are showing more receiver speed than normal.
That TD dive by Searles on a punt return is about as far as you'll ever see a body flying toward the end zone. Great effort!
The video problem at the start kinda reminds me of 2007, or 08, or 09 or 2010! Anyway, I listened to the first possessions. Learning patience thanks to UD.

28-23
Flyers go down 28 to 23. We fumbled 2 times back to back in 4th Quarter inside Dukes 30 to kill the drive. First one we recovered, second one not so lucky. Hopefully our play improves next week in the PFL.

Fumble was a killer. Got lucky and recovered the first one and then lost it on the very next play. Also,we had Dukes pinned back near the goal line late in the 4th quarter but let them get away for a first down. Hold em and we had a chance. Our secondary gave up some big completions.

This week Christian Searles is up for defensive player of the week. Patrick Sandler did win the defensive poll last week, but they didn't put his picture in the article.

Say again, "Our secondary gave up some big completions". Receivers were usually past us & always in better balance. Good defenders need that "correct time" leaping ability but also to be in balance after all that running, shifting, turning, etc for the moment of action on the thrown ball.
I can't think of the old Mn. Viking receiver (he was honored last week) who usually stood there catching a TD pass with two defenders falling down beside him. He was the Best at Balance IMO. Good tapes to watch.

They knew to stay away from Searles, but we didn't give any safety help on the opposite side. That #1 killed us and we didn't respond quickly enough to shift Searles on him.
The fumble was surely a back breaker, but the defense not stopping the run deep in their territory when we knew they were going to run was equally as hard to overcome.
On the first drive we had a nice diversified offense, then we moved away from that opening of the playbook a little.
IMO - If Valpo could score 40 on them we should have put up better numbers at home. It would have helped if the 4000 people tailgating would have come in and filled up the Duquesne side of the stands.
OOC is over and we are 1-2, which is kind of what I expected without Jeske in at QB. It is time to take over the PFL and make the playoffs...maybe a rematch with Duquesne is in the offing???
Go Flyers!

Our two losses come with fumbles in the 4th quarter. Hard to recover at that point. Otherwise those could both gave been wins. Even without Jeske we were in those games to the end.
