#28 - avca
Up from #29 last week. However, one less vote (36) than last week (37). Not convinced we are a top-25 team, but just need to keep stacking W's. Getting ranked is not where this team is just yet.

I agree. I don't think this team is top 25 yet, but I think it can get there by year end and then we will see if we can get on a roll. Until then I LIKE flying under the radar a little. We will get everyone's best effort in the a10 because we sit so far ahead of everyone else. And that will help us get ready to take on NCAA-caliber teams. I like where we sit, just outside the Top 25.
Keep working hard everyday ladies.

One comment on the dropping of votes...the coaches are becoming more consolidated on their voting. They started the polls with almost 40 teams getting votes. They have cut that down to 33. And there is not as varied opinions on who are the top teams as the votes move to the top 20 teams or so. Just not as many questions as to who should be ranked.
I like us sitting just off the top 25. I don't see us moving into the top 25 anytime soon. I think we continue to win, but us moving up will be others ahead of us losing. So it could happen as quickly as next week, but I would personally like to see us move up the last two or three polls. For a young team trying to stay focused on working hard and getting better each day in the gym, I'm more comfortable with steady movement not a quick jump up in votes and rankings.

Hard to sugar coat the A10 w/o UD this season
Even if we keep winning, a sliding RPI with a weak SOS pretty well locks us out of the top 25. Our focus is the A10 season and tournament, setting us up for a decent seed. Have to grind it out this season and stay focused.
The A10 as a whole without Dayton enjoys some very pedestrian (ney, pitiful) records in 2016. If our OOC run didn't impress voters, the A10 season surely will not make up for it.

The top 3 ranked teams and UD are the only ones with 1 loss. Some teams in the top 25 have 4-5 losses although many of those are against ranked teams. So I'm content to sit just outside the top 25 and working hard to keep winning. I definitely agree if we move up it will be because others drop down after a loss or two. Just keep winning and working to get better everyday. That's what we can control

Dropped to #29 from #28 this week but picked up a few votes from 26 to 41. I like just hangin around without crackin the top 25. Wisconsin - and Sheffield - #1 for first time in their history.
https://www.avca.org/polls/di-women/10-10-2016.html
also - #34 in the official RPI - up from #36

A couple years ago the committee announced it would factor in the AVCA poll. I think more for seeding although sometimes the seeding is questionable still. At least they look at this poll. So as long as we can continue to receive votes it might help us with an at-large bid if we need it and the rpi drops below 42-ish.
We have 5 matches yet against teams that have rpi's above 200. Our rpi is going to take a hit when we beat these teams. We would need A LOT of help from other teams on our schedule for that not to happen.
