Point Guard

I have been worried for the last year about recruiting a big (6'4" or more), who can play once Grant leaves. However, by far out biggest need is point guard. Right now we have one and Austria, who will be gone next year. Beyond that we have zero on the roster, who can play point guard.

We need a transfer plus a recruit. Any kid who wants playing time in a successful program should love to commit here.

Not that I'm glad Kelley got hurt last year but can yo imagine where this would be without her? I don't want to contemplate that too much. Shame she won't get her 1000th point at home - hopefully family will be able to make the trip to Pittsburgh.

Jack I agree

I'm sure that Shauna is still recruiting a point guard to come in next year in every way imaginable, transfer, juco, high school. Hopefully there was a senior point guard in attendance last night who could see herself running the fast break at ud arena

I thought Lauren played PG last year when Jenna was on the bench, no?

Yes she did but she is not a true point guard, as evidenced this year.

From casual observation it does not look like LC worked all that hard in the off season. Still carrying too much of her baby weight. Needs to get her butt in the weight room and take every available moment to work on her shooting. We need her.

I don't think that's fair at all - were there complaints about her physique last year when she was A-10 Rookie of the Year? I'm being objective not protective since I do their games and I'm sure I'll get plenty of push back for this opinion.

LC can't create her own shot. She's made to come of screens and catch and shoot. THis year the shooting has not been good. She is not a PG.

Coach Green stated on Sunday they moved Giacone from PG to SG because there wasn't a lot of playing time available at PG.

Do not understand that as a good long term plan, because she will need someone next year, or if Jenna goes down. May have been a nice way of saying Giacone is not the answer at point. Hopefully, Green is close on a good one.

She produced last year and it's not unusual for players to come in out of shape from HS. So yes you are being protective not objective. Players usually work tails off in off season to improve, does not appear she was one of them. May be living off her roy accomplishments.

All you have to do is look at the men's team an you see who did and who didn't work out in off season.

Kudos to LC for her roy last year but this is now, not then. In some opinions including mine she hasn't brought it this year. She can improve her shooting but needs a lot of time in weight room this off season.

Like I said we need her

And then next year she may move back to PG. Things change as needed. Players need to play multiple positions and SG was a good change to get her more playing time for now.
