For one bid leagues, ESPN usually lists the conference leader. The other may list who they ultimately project to win the conference tournament.

Both seem to agree - only the tourney winner gets in. That's likely correct.

This week's Bracketology with Charlie Creme still has Dayton as a 12 but playing Ohio State. That would be...interesting.

Also has Wright State in as a 15.
