Big Upset this weekend
Fordham beats GW in Washington dc. And it was a sweep. All of the sets were close but Fordham gets a road win against a team that has been near the top of the A-10 the last few years. Has GW taken a big fall, or could they just not compete at a high level after their two road losses to UD and SLU. GW better fix things soon. They play Rhody later this weekend. And on the other side, can Fordham get two road wins? They play George Mason.

I saw this last night and agree this was an upset and it was very surprising it was a sweep. LaSalle and Davidson was a 5 setter won by Davidson and Duquesne bear VCU. Those two went as expected. Everyone might need to keep a closer tab on Fordham. They night be better than anyone expected.

GW loses again. This time to Davidson. If GW was not on notice before, they should be now. That's two unexpected loses. If they keep this up they may miss the A-10 tourney. On the other hand, nice win for Davidson.

Rhode Island beats SLU in 4 sets. We play SLU twice and RI once, so would have been better for UD if SLU won. Same will be the case when RI plays DUQ next weekend. A DUQ win helps us more than a RI win. GW biggest surprise so far this year and not in a good way. They haven't won an A10 match.
SLUs Rygelski goes off for 33 kills against RI. Second time this season she has done that. Its not very common for a player to take that many swings in a match and she has that many kills. If her arm falls off later this season, no one will be surprised.

If that RI vs SLU match was in the Midwest it may have been a different outcome. But it wasn't and RI win. Rhode Island still has a match against Duquesne and A match against VCU, and those may be their only hurdle between them and a second place regular season finish. At this point SLU needs to keep winning and hope the Rams lose focus and make a mistake. Rhode Island was good last A-10 season and they still have a bunch of seniors and junior leading their team. Dayton may need to beat Rhode Island for the A-10 title.
