Jacksonville
The Jacksonville University Dolphins are next up for the Flyers. This team changed coaches after last season and now run a triple option attack on offense. They are led by Jr QB Rylan Wells who is averaging 163 yd passing per game and 27 yd per game rushing (he is their second leading rusher). Their receiving corp is led by Prince Gray and Brian Burnett, averaging 68 and 52 yd/gm respectively. The Fins have a number of RBs but the primary one is Ulysses Bryant who is averaging 67 yd/gm with a 4.3 yd/carry average. As a team, they are averaging 190 yd/game on the ground. Obviously, they like to run the ball by getting it to their running backs. The option is always a challenge to defend since you do not see it that often. We did see some at the beginning of the year when we played Central State. I expect that they will try to stretch our defense out with their option attack. On defense, they are led by Sr LB Grady Redding with 42 tackles over the first four games of the season. The second leading guy on defense is also a LB, Jr H. Rodomor with 35 tackles on the year. As a defensive unit, they have tallied 8 sacks and 3 INTs year to date. Interestingly, they did not play last week against Campbell due to Hurricane Matthew. This game was cancelled and has not been rescheduled. The Fins are currently at 1-0 in the PFL.
We will have to play another really solid game to get a win in Jacksonville this Saturday. Our offense has improved over the last couple weeks and we need more progress this week. I really like our running attack with Jeske contributing to the rushing yards. He is a very good runner and passer. Yinger and Ruffing again will have to have a solid game for us to win. On defense, discipline and assignment football is the key to containing the option attack. Our safeties in a DBs will play an important role in controlling the option attack. We will need to play complete team defense on Saturday.
Looks like we are going to have good weather for the game on Saturday. If we continue to build on our solid play of the last two weeks, I think we have a good chance of being successful. Go Dayton Flyers!!!

JU coaching staff is loaded with former Army coaches and players so them running triple option is no surprise . Army always ran this well so our D needs a big effort. Go Flyers!!

Fins gave up 55 to Liberty in a loss and lost to Duquesne 55-34. Heart says Flyers win, head not so sure.

Listening to Chambo's radio show this week, he mentioned that the Flyers have never beat Jacksonville at their place. We certainly don't want that to continue.
We also saw a lot of the option attack last year against Kennesaw State. We struggled against it early in the game but in game adjustments slowed their offense down. Like PF said, we need to stick to our assignments. We don't need missed assignments like last week against Morehead State.
The Flyers are playing well. Keep the running game going which should open up the passing attack more.
Go Flyers!!

Just a great all around effort by the Flyers. All phases of the game contributed to the win. We just have to eliminate the big plays of our opponent. Two big plays by Jacksonville in the 3rd qtr started to worry me. We righted that ship pretty quickly, though, to seal the victory.
On to Butler!!

PFL Defensive Player of the Week
Shout out to Christian Searles our DB for winning the PFL Defensive Player of the Week! He had 3 interceptions and some nice run backs as a PR man. Two of his INTs were very acrobatic. Well deserved honor to our DB!

FCS Plays of the Week
The pass from Jeske to Tunnacliffe in the corner of the endzone was one of the FCS plays of the week! When I saw it happen, it was hard to believe he caught it and got his feet in.
