ESPN2 cut in to VCU/Rhody game
They cut away for 4 minutes to show the last 8 seconds of "bubble" team Clemson attempting to beat #19 Florida State. 3 and a half minutes was announcers yammering while teams were in huddles.
Thankfully "bubble" team Clemson is now 14-14 overall and 4-12 in conference.
This puts them in Lunardi's "first 4 out".
Sarcasm intended. What a slap in the face to the A10.

We mentioned it in the Games of Note thread. Bernadette needs to placing a call to ESPN. There has to be something in TV contract not allowing that.
But as ugly as this game is maybe they were doing us all a favor.

Ahhh, that takes me back to the good old days when Dayton was playing Purdue in the NCAA tourney and when the Flyers built a 6 point lead with 3 minutes to go, they cut away to show the final 30 seconds of #1 UConn clobbering a #16 seed. When they returned, Flyers were down by 3.

Sorry if this is a stupid question and/or has been posted before, but if VCU wins today, we beat VCU on Wednesday, and then we both win our last game, who wins the tie breaker for the one seed?

Thanks for drawing attention to that, OC. Not just the "live look-in" but also the utter ridiculousness of 4-11 Clemson being a bubble team. We might as well just throw all of the P5 teams on the bubble regardless of record. I mean, look at the gauntlet, the meat grinder, that these poor teams have to endure on a nightly basis. Some of them even have as many as TWO wins against Top 50 RPI teams! Lunacy!!!

Dayton would win as we would be 16-2 in conference and VCU would be 15-3.
But if VCU wins today, Dayton wins Wednesday, and then VCU wins final game and Dayton loses at GW, both would be 15-3. Then the following:
Tie-breaker comes down to record versus the #3 team. If Dayton 2-0 and VCU 1-0, Dayton wins and vice versa. Crazy A-10 rule as both would be undefeated versus number 3. If exactly the same record versus #3, goes to record versus #4, etc., etc.

Okay, so we root for RI and they root for Richmond when it comes to final standings.

LOL! Clemson is the most hilarious "Bubble" team. I actually liked the live look-in because I wanted to see them lose again. I have two words: GATHERING STEAM!

You can bet they wouldn't have done that the other way around. If they really felt the need to show the end of the other game, they could have done it with a split screen. Actually, I turned away for a few seconds and when I looked back at the screen I saw the Fla. St. and Clemson huddles and thought I might have accidently hit the remote and changed the channel. I was looking all over for the VCU- URI game until I figured out what was happening. I wonder what would have happened if the other game went to OT?

This was inexcusable. Clemson at 4-11 is a bubble team? No bubble is ever that soft. What a joke. Im actually pulling for URI to win every non-UD game left. I want to put 3 in to the Tournament to maximize beating P5/BE teams in the Tournament.

I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who was angry about this. ESPN is a joke with their ACC obsession.

Might as well marry the ACC. They've been sleeping together for years....

It's just another step in the P5 plan to distance themselves from everybody else until they are finally their own entity.

The little guys and the threat of early round upsets makes the NCAA Tournament what it is. You don't see people huddled in a break room or class room around a streaming game on a phone for Final 4 games, you see it when Pepperdine has UCLA on the ropes. Nobody looks at a bracket to find a Champion they look to find "their" upsets.
I get concern about a Power 5 only Tournament. it will never happen. Its a cash cow as it is. Dropping to Power 5 only hurts that revenue stream.

The all inclusiveness of the NCAA tournament is what makes college basketball the great sport it is. Any division one team has a chance to get in it and a chance for an upset, especially now that the big schools can only keep their players one or two years. College basketball is not looked at as 2nd class citizens to the NBA, it's a separate entity that garners more excitement from all sections of the country. If the P5 make their own tournament, then the P5 will be looked at as the NBA's farm system. No way would I look at Ohio State as my P5 team. So they won't really garner fans from the smaller schools around their region.
If it should happen, it would kill the cash cow. The P5 would be looked at as the NBA's farm system(kind of like triple A baseball. The next level(Dayton) would be looked at as Division II and so on.
It really is becoming a microcosm of society though. Greed now and the future be darned. Though the difference is a change like this would be a more rapid deterioration of the sport. They need to think long term.

I wouldn't mind Rhode Isaland winning the a10 tourney IF UDdoesnt. If they are a 5-12 game I am nervous as the 5 seed.
