Awfully early to get too excited about Walker, but he’s yet another Top 50 prospect targeted by Grant. I love his recruiting aggressiveness.

For you Super recruiting gurus...who's recruiting Keith Waleskowski (and Christie Donovan's) son, Donovan?? He's a 6'4.5" sophomore guard averaging 16+ ppg at St. X http://gcls.gclsports.com/bkPlayerSt...?player=692315
Or Alter's 6'8" sophomore Charlie Uhl...only 5.5 ppg but lots of growing to do. http://gclc.gclsports.com/bkPlayerSt...?player=693053
Just asking.

Can't find anything on any of the recruiting services at the moment. and they aren't listed amongst top OH players at their positions. Hopefully they continue to improve and raise their profile in AAU ball after the season. Anyone know who they will be playing with?

16 ppg and 42% 3 point shooting as a sophomore in the tough Cincy GCL will get a player on the recruiting radar. I’m guessing the chances are ZERO that Xavier will get the young Waleskowski…

The article does not lend optimism to the idea that R.J. will one day be a Flyer.
He didn't broadcast his UD offer on Twitter, as he has with others, because: "'I just didn’t want people to think if I made that public I was going to Dayton,' Greer said."
Not a problem and wish R.J. the best. Seems Dad's job just won't be super influential on his decision.

The kid wants to enjoy the recruiting process like every other recruit. Not a big deal, and if I was him I would do the same. I wouldn't want people to assume I am just going to play for my dad and then miss out on a great opportunity because that is the assumption. Also, he is a 25 recruit, who knows if Riccardo will even be here as an assistant coach in 25. The best thing for a kid in his shoes is to wait as long as possible before committing or signing somewhere. Especially if Riccardo does get a HC job somewhere and leaves UD.

Which, as I mentioned above, is perfectly fine. We just happen to have a leg up in recruits whose Dads are on the staff. R.J. has big time potential and would be an unusually big recruit for UD. Doesn't seem like Dad's employer is going to move the needle though.
Feels like it bears noting wrt to 2025 recruiting.

He has several high major offers, with some — and I use the term loosely — “recruiting analysts” pointing to him eventually landing at Pitt, his father’s alma mater.

UD has swung for the fences much more than many realize. Multiple coaches have tried.
The problem is they have always struggled to land those next tier recruits. Great to make offers but it is crucial to land them.

I’d love to be wrong, but some of my Pittsburgh contacts (fairly well-sourced) seem to think he’s Pitt’s to lose. I hope they’re clueless and just making a wishful guess.

His Twitter actually lists him at 6'10''
"6'10SF/PF | Ignatius '25| phenom united 3ssb |3.7 GPA| "
Also love that GPA - and that he is proud to have said GPA and puts it on his Twitter page - sounds like UD material.

Looks like he has offers from Ohio U. and Kent State so far, but ESPN already has him ranked as a four-star. Another ranking has him as the sixth best player in the state.

Check out the video. Lawson has a whole lot of talent. It looks to me that between these two teams, Pickerington North and Akron St. V - St. Marys (I think that is the team), there are five or six D-1 players.

Always kinda confused by these offers. Easter is a top 25 player in his class, and he's got a slew of big time offers (Michigan State, UCLA, Syracuse, Arkansas, Ohio State, USC, among many others).
Originally from Toledo, so a local-ish guy. Maybe there's a foot in the door.
But we're like his 50th offer. BGSU offered him in 2019. Toledo offered him two years ago. In between, UCLA, Michigan State, and Ohio State offered.
Now, in fall of 2023 Dayton throws its hat into the ring?
Dayton seems slow to offer a lot of recruits and then offer late in the game. Might just be my perception. Might be part of their strategy. Maybe there's just less reporting on Dayton recruiting, so we don't hear it until later. Whatever it is, it's always struck me as odd.

I get what you're saying but sometimes they really just want to make in-roads at a particular school/area as there might be a connection/possible connection to that school or there are a few underclassman at that school on the rise.

In my opinion, you also have to take early offers with a grain of salt. Teams don't really know what they will have and they throw offers out, (to good players to be sure), but at this point based on other recruiting, transfers, guys staying... whatever, who knows if the P5 schools are still realistic offers. Or maybe UD gets in because Michigan offered him but has also offered two other PGs who are similarly ranked and UD can say, "do you want to play right away or go to Michigan and transfer after a year if you don't start as a freshman?" I think one of the top selling points UD has is that 4 and 5 star guys are almost always going to play immediately. Sure we have great facilities and a great fanbase but that doesn't separate us from the top programs, only other mid majors.

Saw Alex Lloyd play Saturday Evenng @ Flying to the Hoop. His team is loaded, I think the scouting report/media guide says they have the #1 sophomore in the country plus another 5 star kid. The sophomore was smooth as silk.
Lloyd looks phenomenal, I have no idea if UD has a real chance to land the kid; great smooth stroke, great leaper and fast as hell. What i also liked about the kid was the way he handled the ebbs and flow of the game. If he got a call against him, he took it in stride. He might have made his argument w/ the ref, but he always ended it in a smile.
Despite all that talent, Alter made it tough on that team, falling by 1 thanks to some hot shooting from the perimeter. Greer looks decent, but definitely a notch below Lloyd. Not as quick, nor does he jump as well, but shooting ability seemed about the same. Charlie Uhl was uninspiring. Perhaps just 1 game as I've never seen him play before, he hit his first shoot a 3 from the top of the key, then I don't think he scored again until late in the game when he convereted an "and 1". Not much leaping ability for a 6'9" kid. WA had a pogo stick playing center that dominated the glass.
In the prior game, a national team from I think Dallas played Garfield heights. Marcus (sp?) Johnson led the way from Garfield Heights. I assume he is the younger brother of Meechie Johnson who transfered from Ohio State to S Carolina and is lighting things up from them. At any rate MJ put on a shooting clinic. He hit from everywhere, handled the ball well and was super smart (coaches son so all the typical coache's kid comments apply). I don' think UD is in the mix for his services, but I think he will be a great collegiate player. The other team was the typical stacked roster "school" from out of state that plays in this event every year. They had a 5 star center that is going to Colorado. His talent was/is obvious. Great touch around the rim and from the line. The things i did question was his attitude. He didn't start (not sure why, may have just been a typical rotation of starters w/ such a stacked roster) and when things didn't go his way he tended to pout. Again, just 1 game but I'll be interested to see how he does at Colorado; all the talent is there to be a star if he is willing to work for it.

Johnson scored 40 points and is only a sophomore. Most impressive display. As mentioned, he is lightning quick.
Lloyd and Greer both looked good as described above.
There are some outstanding basketball players at Flyin to the Hoop this weekend. So far, 99 players who have participated in that event made it to the NBA, including Jordan Sibert (although a very short stint).

Meechie Johnson started off in HS gangbusters, scoring 50 in the third game of his frosh year, and blew up early, picking OSU, and enrolling a year early. He had moderate success and transferred to SC last year.
HS can be a whole different success for some great athletes, who are coaches sons.

Lots of UD connections to Carbuccia. He Is Dominican and played for the Domenican National U18 team, much like Koby Brea. He also plays at Stepanic HS in NYC, the same league that Koby and Mali played in.
His cousin is Felipe Lopez, who is Koby’s Godfather.

Huge official visitor coming in tomorrow (staying for VCU game)
24/7 High School Hoops @247HSHoops
2025 4⭐️ Alex Lloyd tells me he’s taking an official visit to Dayton beginning tomorrow through Saturday.
Lloyd is a long, athletic guard and a fantastic two-way player. An engaged on and off ball defender who can score the ball from all three-levels offensively.
#37 in the ESPN60.

According to a seemingly reliable Twitter account, this will be Lloyd's second visit to Dayton in the last two months. The tweet says he took an unofficial on Jan. 14.

That makes sense. The date didn't line up with a game, which I thought was strange.

Reposting from above for those that missed it, but see Lloyd is making an OV to UD this weekend. I'll add to it, that it appeared that he has a pretty close relationship with Greer's kid on Alter. I know Greer didn't list UD in his final 5 but figured there was always a chance he might want to play for his dad (though I also assume that Greer would like to be a head coach somewhere soon, so that is a dynamic adds additional angles to that thought). Anyhoo, it was apparent that the Greer family and Lloyd are well acquainted. I'd love to land that kid, he was fun to watch

My guess is that he will be presented an NIL deal while he’s here. I don’t think the timing of the announcement by UD about NIL deals was just coincidence.

So, what's a credible NIL offer for a HS recruit of this calibre?
In addition, based in the info just released by Neil, am I wrong to say that any recruit could be offered a direct NIL deal outside of Dayton 6th that UD would have no knowledge of????

I read it the same way. It appears any third party can go direct to the recruit. I would suggest anyone considering this at least contact Dayton 6th first to coordinate.

You would hope there is some coordination, buuuuut, there are a lot of slimy boosters/alumni out there. I'm thinking of the guy that makes a side offer of $100k (make up a big number) to a kid and says I'll pay you in installments after every game you play - regardless of performance or outcome - they sign a contract, kid enrolls. Everyone is happy. After the first game, the guy is nowhere to be found . . .

Well, Lloyd and Cameron Holmes definitely got the full Flyer effect last night. Couldn't ask for a better sales pitch. That was the best foot forward we got. Hope it's enough.

Not sure we have a shot at DeRon's brother. Is he here to see his brother, and will he turn down offers from almost every big time school?

Finch is a former Ohio kid, now in Tampa, who has few offers at this point. I am thinking similar to Bennett.

Great to hear about the live atmosphere. It can only help with recruiting. The crowd sounded much louder on TV than other games this year. Definitely a great time to have heralded recruits visit.
As far as Cam goes, he would obviously be an outstanding get. Realistically, he may have wanted to be at what is likely his brother's last home game. Hopefully, last night made a difference.

Missed the first 1/2 on ESPN (radio for 1st) but they did point out sold out for 59 times and made a big deal of it.
I’ve been reading a lot lately about NIL and such and while I am not fully versed in UDs NIL programs, but if Holmes is having fun, and if he is close to a degree he just might come back - if he is 2nd rounder.
As for other recruits, man o man if that atmosphere doesn’t grab em I don’t know what would.

There were multiple great shots of the student section.
I don't remember the specifics of each comment. At one point, (paraphrasing) the comment was made that the place had been quiet as VCU took the early 17 point lead, but certainly wasn't anymore.

ESPN's analyst Dalen Cuff mention during the broadcast as VCU was enjoying their early big lead, he had never heard Dayton arena this quiet before. Once UD starting coming back, he said "It ain't quiet anymore."

Alex Lloyd, a 2025 recruit from Florida, and Cameron Holmes, a 2026 recruit from Arizona and the brother of DaRon Holmes, sat behind the Dayton bench tonight.

I have no idea if UD can pull in a top 50 guard and/or Holmes brother. If nothing else, it is a benchmark other teams are going to have to beat when it comes to game atmosphere.
Maybe in the new world order game atmosphere doesn’t mean as much as an extra $40K in NIL, but UD did everything they could to make top recruits take notice.

Isn’t Lloyd ranked #30?
Edit: ESPN has Lloyd at #37 and Holmes is #17.

Don't think there was an actual prediction, Dayton just moved into the lead on On3's proprietary prediction algorithm, and this was due to UD being Lloyd's only reported official visit (FSU is in second due to being the only reported unofficial visit).
Honestly, it's pretty much meaningless, other than documenting Dayton did indeed receive an official visit.
