Offers from the MAC (Ohio, Akron, Kent). We can only hope he’s a smaller Keith Waleskowski 2.0 that blossoms in our system … or at least a great practice player and teammate. Still have a few to give with DaRon Holmes being the ultimate wild card.

Nice kid. Great family. YUGE Flyer fan. Marginal A10 talent w/o a ton of physical development.

I've reffed dozens of his games and he is an impressive - but inconsistent - player. He makes his teammates better, hustles non-stop, is coachable and smart. But he really struggled in SWBL which doesn't translate to D1 success.

FWIW, Brady Uhl was a much better HS player than Maxwell...and Uhl's best offers were D2. I would have loved for Maxwell to go somewhere he could play as a freshman, prove himself against real competition, and then transfer to UD with some experience and momentum on his side.

Overall, it's a good commitment. But don't hold your breath that he will be as successful as Waleskowski. With some fortune, he'll be the next Kobe Brea.

Looks like we had a walk-on from Brookville in 2017-18. Dalton Stewart. Remember him?

It's certainly not a basketball hotbed, but Luke Kennard got to the NBA from the SWBL. Unfortunately there is no indication (yet) that Maxwell is the next Luke Kennard.

Oh, by the way, Luke Kennard played in the SWBL. He seemed to do well at Duke. Your point does stand up well though. Kennard is the only di player (scholarship player) who played basketball for a boys team in the SWBL over the last 11 years.

Zack Denny from Valley View played at Bowling Green until 2017….1000+pts in his career.

Andy Neff from Oakwood was a walk-in at Wright State and got a scholarship for 2022-23.

Mike Cavey at Oakwood spent a year or two at Bowling Green in the early 90s. I think Franklin was in the SWBL when Kennard was there. Brandon Hassell from Valley View went to Penn State. Josh Sagester from Brookville played somewhere

Fwiw, the SWBL has some serious dirt ballers. Richie Mooney from the late 80’s pitched at Oklahoma State. I know there are many others. They might not be great in basketball, but they have had some athletes bless the conference. When Northmont was formed, it was going to include Brookville in some early discussions. If Brookville had been part of Northmont, it would have been the sports giant in Dayton.

When did Zach Denny graduate from Valley View? The conference website doesn’t list him as a basketball commit, and it goes back to 2012-2013.

The SWBL website clearly doesn’t have all of the college commitments listed. It is likely something that was tracked by the conference once the website became relevant. I wonder what else is missing. I read an old MAC list of top returning players, and it spoke highly of Denny. I would take him in a nanosecond. Oh, he played great D, too..

Too bad the site doesn't go back past 2013... pretty sure Jimmy Pollard from Northridge averaged more than that back in 1980. Dude was unreal, averaged like 38 (and there was no 3pt line).

Him and Paul Hawkins (Dunbar) had a shootout at the Arena.

Good football conference but in some sports at least your good players were likely to go Alter/CJ. Not sure if that’s case anymore

Thomas Howard was a tremendous three-sport athlete (football, basketball, baseball) for Valley View in the SWBL. He eventually played for the Reds and spent 11 seasons in MLB.
