Should we be worried?
Yale is looking for a new head football coach.... I have not seen RC's name mentioned, but I think Yale has come after UD coaches in the past.... Not too many FCS non-athletic scholarship programs with winning traditions to choose from....

I would be shocked beyond belief if RC did not retire as the head football coach of the Dayton Flyers. The man knows nothing but Flyer Football. I don't know how much money Yale has to pay a new football coach, but I cannot imagine an amount that would entice RC away from Dayton. My guess is that RC turned down many job offers (or at least unilateral interest from others) while he was D-Coordinator under Coach Kelly, waiting for the chance to take the helm. Now that he is the man, he is going nowhere.

Yale has already named finalists for the job. Your man is safe.

No worries, DF
In Coach's post-game speech after the 2010 Drake game, he said he would still be here when the guys came back to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their championship. He will retire as a Flyer.

Don't know who the finalists are but Yale should look a few miles north to Amherst . . . where UD alum E.J. Mills has built up a pretty nice Division III program.

Still churning.... It sounds like at least a couple of folks have turned down Yale.... I will feel better when they have a new coach on board. I too think that RC will be here for the long haul, but I have also learned to never say never....

Interesting....
It sounds like he played baseball at UD and not football? If so, kind of interesting. Thanks for letting us know about another successful UD grad in the coaching world.

Well, after reportedly being turned down by at least 3 candidates, Yale has a new coach. I think his last name is Reno. He was a former assistant at Yale and was coaching at Harvard most recently.

Resume issue...
The guy that had the job in his hands was found to have embellished a few resume details.....nothing really significant, little stuff. But Yale is really strict when it comes to stuff like that. If a coach's resume says he lettered three years as a college player...and Yale finds out it was one year....the guy has some serious `spainin' to do.
Sad to see a career derailed by something as small as that, especially when the guy's resume was sterling without even the slightest exaggeration.
Whatever, that's their business; not ours.
