Fordham 3, Flyers 2

Disappointing end to the season in the A-10 tournament quarterfinal at Baujan. Fordham is the defending A-10 tournament champion and also beat league champion UMass in Amherst on Wednesday - so they have been playing well. Still, losing at home stings. You just can't give up 3 goals and expect to win in a tournament match.

Why they could not adjust the match start time to not conflict with the basketball game is beyond me. Quarterfinal games are being played on both Saturday and Sunday - so there was flexibility in start times.

Disappointing since we hosted the main draw next weekend at Baujan. Felt we were playing well enough to make a run. As you say, surrendering 3 goals in the postseason is a death sentence. And it was for both UD soccer programs.

They could have started it at 4pm yesterday. WBB ended a little before 4pm. Football ended by @4pm. Match would have ended @6pm . Easy drive time across the bridge for MBB. Would have been perfect for those of us who like to follow multiple sports.

True, a double header situation helps both crowds and also gives the programs the ability to market around a whole day on campus. I always love double dips! Saves gas, and wear and tear on my vehicle. Unfortunately, those that do the scheduling rarely think about implications for the fans, they only think about security, clean-up, facilities concerns.

I don't appreciate lack of synergy with scheduling in athletics. BUT we're allowed to miss a preseason basketball exhibition IMO, while the idea of missing a playoff soccer match on campus, which does not necessarily happen every year, completely unfathomable. The conflict is one of priorities, IMO. Just because athletics is predestined to prioritize basketball (rightfully) doesn't mean we individually have to neglect soccer.

Pretty cool to have Fordham MSOC repping the A10 in the Elite Eight. Way to go, Rams!!
