Rhode Island and Day 1
I'll put day one viewing into this combined RI thread.
Not fan of EC Mathews. makes weak cuts, rests a lot on offense. IT's guys like Dowtin and Fatts Russell that make things happen on that team. They are having troukble against Okla. bigs. But closed it to 4 by half.
They need to change their strategy to win. However they are playing decent defense against the Sooners.

Terrell has been a no show in Rhodys last few games. EC and him better pick it up in the 2nd half.

Don't look now, early, but Penn leading Kansas. Pretty sure there were a lot of negative comments about losing to Penn this year.

All these negative comments about the Rams, and lo and behold they win.

I watched a good chunk of the 2nd half of the Rhody game and noticed a good amount of empty seats. I watched the last minute of the Wright State game (granted it was a blow out at the point) and noticed there were even more empty seats. I'm watching a bit of the Gonzaga game in Boise and see a packed house (at least what's visible on TV). I wonder how much the NCAA cares about things like that.

Wright State site (Dallas I think) was very empty from the get go.

I was looking at tickets this week since I'm 15 min from ppg paints.... Most of the tickets were fairly expensive and sections sold out 50'ish was the cheapest ticket.
I think a lot are sold in 3 session packages and not everyone shows for games they don't care about. So looked like a lot of empty seats but most seem to be sold.

I was following two games in particular today. I wanted Rhode Island to win and Wright State to lose by more than 20. Mission accomplished!

When that shot ripped the cords, I yelled “Yes” with almost the same gusto as I did when Vee’s floater dropped in 2014.
Almost the same gusto.

Back in 64-68, we played Chicago Loyola (as then called), twice a season - H\H. DePaul too. We drove to Chicago once for a Saturday game. If I remember correctly, it was played at "Chicago Stadium"? - not in a great part of town. They were one of the many independents like DePaul, Notre Dame, us etc.

The CONFERENCE OF CHAMPIONS loses to A10, MAC, and a really crappy ACC team that should not have even made the tournament.
I love it when blow hards like Walton have to STFU.

Yes, it was Chicago Stadium. I went there for the game in 69. The next day we went to see the Knicks who were in town to play the Bulls. Because there were so many Dayton fans there, the Knicks started Don May (rookie season) and we got to cheer him.

But they have four teams in the NIT. Maybe they can rename it the Tournament of Almost Champions from the PAC12.
