Possible Head coaches just in case!
Pat Kelsey, greater Cincy area native, maybe a guy who would never leave, and John Brannen at NKU (John Brannen (born January 18, 1974) is an American basketball coach and the current men's basketball coach of the Northern Kentucky University Norse. Brannen previously spent nine seasons as an assistant coach to Anthony Grant at both VCU and Alabama. For the Tide's two games in the 2015 National Invitation Tournament, Brannen served as interim head coach. Brannen is a Kentucky-native and was named the head coach of NKU, the fifth in program history, on April 7, 2015.)

Exactly, I'm excited for the tournament, but I'm also excited for the 6 players being added to our active roster next season. The thought of AM leaving and subsequently those 6 players leaving also is not a fun discussion, especially this time of year if any.

Yet we have 2 active threads to Archie leaving days before the tourney. Highly doubt any
other top 30 team boards panic daily over their coach leaving. It won't stop until
Archie makes the worry warts fears come true. This will be a running thread(s) for years to
come.

You know what's even sillier than worrying about Archie's next job?
Clicking on a thread clearly labeled as discussing Archie's next job and complaining about it.
We're all wired differently. Some are fascinated by the coaching carousel and the potential flux in our own house. No need to tell others how to enjoy their fandom.

If you don't like the subject don't click. It's not an unreasonable question. I'm still high on Anthony Grant despite lack of success at Bama...but no clue really about the top assistants or low major coaches. We have a list of candidates when the day comes, I don't mind the question.

Exactly, JerseyFlyer. Very valid subject, anytime. This board can handle many thread topics and 80% of them hold less weight than Archie being a hot national coaching commodity. When he's gone I'll have my mourning time and you who look down your noses at me now can have the board to discuss.

Apparently, speculation is not allowed on this board?
We have a theoretical thread about what 1 player from the last 20 years would we most want on this team. We had threads for weeks (maybe months) about what seed this team could get? Should get? And would get? We had threads for weeks (probably months) about the potential jobs that Archie might me interested in.
But low and behold, a theoretical thread about coaches that might be on the short list, should Archie leave, is off limits?

I don't chime in often just when I am annoyed. There are some that are acting like it's a done self-fulfilling prophecy....you are visualizing a shank and you shank. It's getting old, similar to "what we need to do to get in the big east". WE ARE UD! A GREAT SCHOOL A MORE THAN GREAT COACHING GIG. Act as if....we don't need the big least, Archie just may value QOL and being true king no disrespect rollo.
Thank you drive through come again.

There is no ban on speculation but if you START a thread a couple of days before the Flyer's NCAA tourney game, you have to expect to get some crap. Go ahead and start the thread but expect to get some crap.

I hope the AD is at least thinking about this. Should we lose Arch we could lose all 5 recruits. Then what do we have, a mess that's what. We could regress to a Duquesne like level for a few years. We better at least have plan b ready to go.

Why would anyone want to leave WSU to go to an also ran team in the B1G? Wouldn't he take a pay cut and be forced to recruit players from Indiana????

The only Plan B you have is the compiled "list" of possible coaches that actually started the day Archie was even hired....Every AD in America compiles, recompile, revises, deletes, and adds to that list weekly/monthly..There's absolutely NOTHING you can do if a kid wants out of his ship' outside of what the NCAA rules say about that and just how convincing and persuasive the new/interim coach can be.

Greenberg on Mike&Mike just talked about how IU is a destination job. Marshall and Billy Donovan were mentioned along with Archie. So IU can lure the head coach at UF but they're an also-ran. Also Indiana is a freaking hotbed for high school talent. Even grade-schoolers.. I love their initiative for firing Crean. One player out of the last 14 top 100 players from Indiana signed with Crean and IU. Totally unacceptable. IU is a giant. Albeit a sleeping one. Also-ran...lmao

I always had a gut feeling about Donovan there. This isn't the Thunder team he left for and Westbrook could be a Laker (not that I follow the NBA). Rumors had Donovan unhappy with the support Florida gave the hoops team comparative to other Power 5's, especially given his incredible success. Financial support will not be an issue at IU.

If and when AM leaves I think we will promote from within. The longer AM stays, the longer I feel this to hold true. His assistants have been with him since day 1, and the most important thing we can do now that we have sustained success is to keep that winning culture going. Once programs like Xavier, VCU, Butler, etc established a winning culture, they promoted from within to avoid hitting the 'reset button'. (I know Will Wade came from Chatanooga but he was there for 1 year after previously being a VCU assistant). If you bring in an outsider you are changing offensive and defensive philosophys, run the risk of losing recruits and force the current guys who you may not know to blindly trust you and buy in--not an easy thing to do. Just look at Archie's first 2 years here.

It's still pathetic. We had Archie and we were in the tournament when this thread was started. It sounded like the ramblings of a neurotic then and it does now. Of course I knew Archie leaving was an inevitably, and this season was especially risky with big programs like Indiana opening and so many seniors leaving. But this inferiority complex we have needs to be exorcised.

FGSU Coach Dooley
I live in SW Florida. The FGSU coach Dooley is probably a name they are looking at. Good recruiter. Gets good talent for coaching in a 1 bid conference. Very good at getting good transfers. The newspaper here calls him a defensive coach but the defensive intensity is not close to the Archie coached defenses. Had his team playing good ball at the end of the season. Lost games in the last 3 years to less talented conference teams but that happens.

That isn't really true. When the bottle is turned in you're getting the 10 cents tax back that they already took out. So if you bought the bottle you are just getting back the 10 cents that was stolen from you.
