Congrats to the A-10 champs

Win a tough one against the Rams. After a less than steller start to the season, finished strong.

Two poor shooting teams who really get after it on defense and rebounding. Good game with an excellent outcome.

Scaife was money down the stretch when she needed to be, 13 pts and 6 rebounds. However, Whitehead with 13 pts and 10 rebounds was huge. After three bonehead plays in a row early on, that had coach sit her, she settled down to a great game.

That block by Scaife on the last play was the PERFECT ending -- defense wins -- and the Arena erupted!

I would have voted for Scaife but there were tons of folks around me advocating for Whitehead for the Most Outstanding Player award. She had a GREAT weekend.

Also thought Perez/Chandler gave us EXACTLY what was needed in neutralizing Hammond which was something Fordham was unable to do.

Shot 30% overall and 15% from three, yet still won. Don't think that will hack it when we play in the Dance when seeded around 14 or so. But you never know. defense has saved us a bunch this year. We won't scare anybody with our offense.

I think we're probably looking at more like a #11 or #12 seed. Our RPI is now in the high 30s. Thats pretty good. I echo the shooting sentiments, but this team has shot this way all year and we've said "it wont hack it". They nearly ran the table in the league and then doubled up with the tourney title. Somehow they have managed to make it work. Its truly one of the better Houdini acts in recent memory.

They just need to stick to their identity of keeping teams shooting in the mid 30% range and locking down defensively. Its paid the freight up to this point. Ride that train until the train runs out of track.

Charlie Creme's Bracketology has had Dayton as a consistent #12 for several iterations now -- only variable has been the location.

It may not be the prettiest basketball you will ever see, but these women know how to win and that is what matters. You have to appreciate their hustle and desire. Always nice to have both the men and women in the tourney.

An exciting game to watch and a real slugfest. From a UD fan perspective, probably a little too close for comfort. From a BB fan perspective, just what a championship game should be.

Got to give a shout out to the VCU band. I never thought I'd see another band give the Flyer pep band a run for their money in UD arena, but the Peppas were terrific.

I give credit to coach Green. Not the strongest roster we have ever had but they worked hard, played defense and have had a very successful season so far. Probably an uphill battle in the Dance, but that is nothing new to these players.

Oh perish the thought - she loves Dayton, Andy teaches in a school district - I'd hope first if it's money the University will anti-up first.

Neil said that he got "permission" calls after her first season at Dayton. I think she's happy here and if UD is fair to her, I think she stays. I don't believe she is enamored of bigger schools. I think the only thing that is lacking is attendance. I know it's better than many, but she frequently mentions wanting more fans in the stands. (There were maybe 30 students in the student section yesterday and they did not have to pay for a ticket. Actually that's more than usual)

It's too bad that the championship game wasn't before the GW men's game. Could've made it a requirement to go to one in order to get tickets to the other.

Sullivan has also mentioned (many times) the need for donations towards a "retainer" fund for WBB.

Was disappointed in the attendance for the A10 Final. UD was the #1 seed and regular season champ and vying for the NCAA automatic bid on its home court. The Red Scare and student support was a flat zero. Other than the trio of flight attendants and pilot that dress up (credit to them they are hard core and always bring it) and a couple more fans, there was literally nobody from campus there beyond the pep band.

It was a Sunday at noon. Weather was fine. I understand you have to pay for tickets, but good grief you're paying $42,000 a year for college, you couldnt spare a few bucks to support the WBB program? The opportunity to cheer your team to a potential A10 title on your home court is rare and supporting that shouldnt be wasted.

Also expected more townies to show up, so they dont get a free pass either. There should have been 4,000 there. Not completely filling the lower bowl but at least making it appear full.

While I agree attendance was disappointing, the steep ticket prices were a factor. Case in point, 3300 for the regular season VCU game.

Agree Barney. the A-10, or whoever set the prices, caused the low attendance. When you are trying to build your fan base it is not smart to try and rip off the folks you are trying to get. It would have been smarter to have tickets be priced like the regular season and see what that produced. Fans are under no obligation to pay inflated prices to see any sport, and they spoke with their lack of attendance.

I was told that students did not have to pay with a valid student ID from any A10 school.
(not sure how well that was communicated) Also poor communication that Seniors and Children were $10. I agree $25 was too much to charge for the tickets for the general population.

If thats true, the student support was pathetic and embarrassing.
