From the UD standpoint seems fair, always proud when a player makes the all academic team as well as Erin did. I don't get Cavanaugh POY over Jorgensen must have to do with the lack of team success for URI.

Cavanaugh played so many more minutes (450) than Jorgensen though -- and still scored at an elite level.

I used to have a vote in this stuff when the media picked teams and not the coaches. There were special rules you had to follow. Because I was repping UD, I could only nominate like 2 or 3 UD players at most. Every team had a limit on papering their own hometown team.
The problem was, UD was so dominant with the best player in the league at almost every position, I had to leave worthy players off. We didn't rank players "first team" or "second team". We simply ranked like the 15 best players in the league in order of best to best of the rest. I presume the first player got 15 points or whatever and the last player got 1. Then they tallied up all the ballots, ranked the players, then did a cutoff for each respective All A10 team.
I had a dilemma. I knew a couple UD players were such shoo-ins that it really didnt matter where I ranked them. They were gonna be at the top of everybodys list and for good reason. But I also new because I had limited votes for Dayton, I needed to use those votes wisely. So I chose to push those players that were still the best in the league but might not get quite the same run and as a sheer consequence to the nominating process might get unfairly docked for simply playing on a great UD team.
Fortunately the other voters more or less also recognized the players I was recognizing so if memory serves the UD representation was more or less spot-on, but I believe I do recall at least one sure-fire All-Conference UD player being left off simply because of the "numbers game" when they were 100% being screwed by the process. Dont recall who it was. Might have been Lalor or Austria or someone like that.
A10 soccer awards were different. I think I had to actually make out the actual teams b/c it was position-related. Been a long time. Probably better the coaches do this stuff now as they both see every player and also have to scout them. I never trusted the other beat writers on a lot of this stuff -- they didnt watch enough games in most cases and just picked based on statistics.
I think Barney should get a vote. His takes are pretty fair to all personnel on all sides.
As for this year, I would have put Breen on the first team despite the lack of games under her belt. The Jorgensen girl would have been POY in my book. Im not sure Scaife had a 1st Team All A10 kind of year, but I agree w/Defensive Team. And Bradshaw All Defensive was worthy. This was one of the best defensive teams UD has ever had. As much as the offense struggled it was good to see the defenders get their recognition. It was how they had to win every game this season.

Kudos to Coach Green, who has taken a boatload of criticism from me and many others on this site.
