FYI, the long-time president of Quinnipiac, John Lahey, is a UD alum - '68 and Masters '70.

After a so so first half, the Flyers extend their lead to 17 in the 3rd quarter. That Harris is a physical specimen, but can she play? Great to have Kelly back. She is a stud on both ends. Jenna is so much more relaxed and effective having some support.

Pathetic, pathetic finish. This coach and team have a long way to go. Not sure Jenna or Kelly scored after the 17 point lead. Our offense was have Cannetelli shoot and miss. 13-24 free throws did not help, and of course the 20 turnovers we have come to know as a tradition.

46-29 lead and blow it. Ouch. 20 turnovers to 9 for them. We wilted under pressure.

How often do you win on the road when shooting 34% from the field, 50% at the foul line and spot the home team a 17pt second half lead? Id say 1 in 500.
Quinnipiac took 16 more shots than we did. Too many yer turnovers and not limiting them to one and done on the other end. They seemed to make us pay when we did not grab the board or had the ball bounce out of bounds off our leg. We struggled winning the 50/50 challenges. Both teams missed FTs so that is a wash.
This needed to be a W. Quinnipiac is a very solid team. But shouldnt beat us on our court. Quinnipiac quickness and athleticism is what we will continue to see in the next 5 games. Brutal schedule. Lets see how much we improve by next game before getting too worked up however.

Only three FG attempts by SGA that has to change. It's a work in progress so let's give it time.

Agreed -- but -- teammates have to throw her the ball in order for her to score.

Most entry passes were getting stolen. Our bigs were not making themselves big enough and deep enough inside. I think it was a collective failure.

Tough game. Defense was good, the rebounding an offense were not. Doubt they practiced against the zone and the trapping bewildered them.
Just didn't have the toughness.

Quinnipiac took 31% more shots than we did. Digest that.
When the other team gets 16 more shots, just hitting 4-5 of those is another 8-10pts. There alone you can package the outcome of the game.

Grant has regressed. Her defense and rebounding were terrible, and her offensive positioning was non-existent.
That game was summed up in the last minute when we had to get a basket. We started our offense at the top of the key and got forced backwards to half court, and called time out with about 8 seconds. Our coaching staff huddled and came up with something. We then struggled to get the ball in and soon turned it over, not even getting a shot. Game, set and match.
As Chris said, this is a game would should win up 17 at home.

I give credit to Q, they are a good, quick team with a tenacious defense that had us very confused. Not sure if we knew that ahead of time. Virtually every shot was contested. Their offense was good too, see the number of shots they got. Many of their second chances were fortunate rebounds, in my opinion, but that is the way of the game. Refs got a C in my gradebook. Experienced crew that didn't perform very well, again in my opinion.
Hoping for better results over the year as this told us a lot about where we need to improve.

I don't like to run down a player but Allen has no benefit on offense. She has poor hands and doesn't stay on balance. The Q zoned all game and SGA was worthless on the interior. The problem was the Flyers just played too fast on offense most of the game.

Agree on Allen, she was open and couldn't either get the ball or missed put back under the basket, and she was the tallest one on the floor. The next post player who started has not given us anything yet. I love Dennis as I know she has the skill set, hits them in practice but can't deliver for some reason in games. Andi is showing signs of being able to give quality min in relief in the post, but considering the play of the two above I would start Andi till one of the other above mentioned players come to play Dayton bball.
I was really surprised with our back court. Our guards were totally lost since the post was open and we couldn't get the ball inside. That was the best pressure zone defense I'd seen in a womens game. They took us totally out of our game.
At the end we had 4 foul shots, missed all four including KA who rarely misses. Make those 4 shots we win by one.
UConn will pressure our guards but I believe we will be able to handle them like we did in the elite 8. UConn does not play a pressure zone defense like Q did. From the looks of things I do not believe the flyers practiced against that kind of relentless zone pressure or even knew it was coming.

If we did not see the pressure defense coming, or did not practice against it, that is on the coaches. I assume Q played it last year, and they had a game on Friday night we should have scouted. We also beat the crap out of it early in the 3rd quarter, so what changed? Three things I saw: we stopped making shots, stopped playing defense and we stopped rebounding.

Not sure if Q used it against opponents before or kept it a secret weapon for big fish. Either way we were totally unprepared

Let's not fight Dennis the gift from down under that keeps on giving. Perhaps the worst shooter dice we went d1. Refuses to use her size and strength to do the dirty work that needs to be done.🇰🇾
