Marist
I think this game is going to be a challenge for the Flyers. Marist has the top rated defense in the PFL and their strenght appears to be stopping the run (they give up 122 rushing yards per game compared to UD giving up 119). They are a little more vulnerable to the pass but that is not our strong suit. Offensively they look like a big play offense. Their top receiver leads the league in receiving yards and yards per catch (he has 6 TDs over 60 yards this season). Their QB is also the top rated passer in the PFL and is very athletic. Over all, it looks like another game where we will need to have a good passing game to compliment our runnning and we are going to need to put pressure on the passer to help out our DBs. I think that if our offense plays like it did on the first and last drives against Drake and our front four can get pressure like they did against Drake then we have a pretty good shot. Lets just hope we play like we did against Drake and not like we did against USD. In any event I would expect a relative low scoring tight game that comes down to the 4th quarter and who makes the most mistakes.

Live Streaming Video
Last game of the year for our team. I think we are going to win this one on the road. The game last week showed the talent we have and what we can accomplish when we play as a complete team. For those interested, below is the link to the Marist video feed on Saturday. How come all the other PFL schools have video much superior to ours???

And you thought it was just autumn
The 6" of snow at my brother's in northern NJ is melting fast this morning. The temps in Poughkeepsie, NY will be mid-40's today so road travel should not be a problem tomorrow.
However, the airlines need to get their planes relocated after cancelled flights yesterday. Yes, the travelling Flyers football bunch have come very close to a travel nightmare. For a while I worried that the trip would be more difficult than the game. Now I think they'll make it with just normal air-flight frustration.
Go Flyers! Show them you can play in cold, windy weather.

Forecast for Saturday is sunny and 50 with slight wind so weather should not be an issue.

Dunno. In "the day" UD was known or its Communication Arts program...producing major market talent, especially in radio. It wouldn't cost much to mount a fixed hi-def camera at Welcome stadium (as San Diego does). No need for a switcher or mixer. Most fans would be satisfied!

I hope they were just being cautious. Still, two bad injuries for Marist today in the first half is not good.

Can offense make one 1st down for a win?
Can defense hold for half-minute if we can't move?
Can we play w/o another turnover?
So much left to think about!!!

Glad the boys won. I'm a Hudson Valley native and worked in Poughkeepsie at the Journal almost 40 years ago. Made the trek up from DC in 2010 but couldn't get to this one. Have to rub it in to my best friend who played at Marist through '70 when they were a club team and won the "Club Super Bowl" again Pace. Hope the Dayton people are tailgating on the banks of the Hudson.

I know that you are all football fans here, but doesn't it seem to reason that a scholarship sport, that brings in the majority (if not darn near all) the revenue into the program, gets first shot at broadcasts? I know it was the season opener, and it was a buy game, but basketball pays most of the bills.
Now, they should have found a way to have a stream to the live broadcast that wasn't actually on WHIO radio. But, then, maybe noone would listen to the tape delay?

You have got to be kidding me. Broadcast the basketball game live or football? You would have to be an idiot ( and immediately fired ) if you chose football. The ratings for the two broadcasts aren't even close and the last I looked radio expects to make a profit on the broadcast.

Yeah, last football game of the season. I'm sure broadcasting a buy game against nowhere U will push WHIO into the black this year.... Go back and troll on the basketball board.

Avoid head to head scheduling!
Is it really that hard to avoid a scheduling conflict between football and basketball? What time would the game against the Arkansas State nobodies have had to start? Is 4 PM past their bedtimes?

Why not face reality about just what UD football is and is not. If it weren't for basketball it wouldn't even be on radio. When Larry retires that may be the end of football broadcasts.

UDDOUG: Your post serves no purpose. Why beat down the FB program? The FB players arent any less committed than the BB scholarship players. Bottom line is that decision not to air the FB game was another public slam against the program.

It is not. The games were at the same general time. Basketball has broadcast preference with WHIO as the primary source of the rights fees. It us no different than the Reds having preference over the Bengals on WLW. Basketball will always be broadcast instead of football when the two play at the same time. Not recognizing that and asking to carry football and not basketball is just not thinking clearly. It will not happen as long as The fan bases are what they are.
Volleyball and soccer athletes put a lot of time and effort into their sports too. And they have had a lot of success. But they are never on broadcast radio. It is what it is. It's not a slam at them that they don't get radio play. It takes a lot of people listening to get that. They don't have that kind of following.
And for the record I am probably one if a very small majority of people at the basketball game who actually checked the football score.

Your point about the relative importance of football vs basketball at UD and WHIO is valid. Although one could argue that it has been by far the most successful men's sport by far for quite a while.
Your parting shot about not having broadcasts after Larry retires was a cheap shot and showed an unbalanced approach to the subject
I personally can watch any two teams play football, yet the only time I watch basketball is when the Flyers are on. Beyond that I have no interest.

For the record, last year when the bball and fball schedules conflicted, fball was broadcast live on WHIO streaming while bball was on local airwaves. I was disappointed that this wasn't the case this year. At least game tracker was working so I was able to follow the football game from the arena.

Congrats!!!
Congrats to Kyle Sebetic on his back-to-back defensive POTW honors.

And even better news is that RC said on his tv show today that Sebetic, Monnier, and Dunn will all be back next season for their 5th year. That is a great foundation returning for our defense!
