Creighton Game

We play Creighton who lost to Missouri 72-63. Opponents know to full court press the flyers till they find a way to beat it consistently. Also they will press our guards on the perimeter keeping us away from trey land as much as possible. No need to guard the post our bigs can't put it in consistently.

Creighton, the big east team that took our spot....ladies its time to repay them big time.

SGA, Austria, Burdette, Scaife and Andi listed as starters.

More energy but not a score for last 4 min, not good. Too many turnovers and letting C get too many offensive boards.

This team has a long way to go. Turnovers and by the veterans. Giving up offensive boards and can't buy a bucket.

Lost Jenna at the 7 min mark due to fouls then she comes in with 20 sec left and promptly throws the ball away.

We've had the ball stolen or lost multiple times by our guards, which I thought would be our strength. ITS NOT.

Unless our guards settle down this will be a very long season.

We are only capable of playing 8 minutes out of 20, and that lets the other team back in. Need a strong 20 min performance if we expect to get the W.

Sloppy, inconsistent play with low energy. They just don't look like the Dayton teams of recent past.

Too much individual play instead of team play.

Good news is the girls are wearing the blue jerserys so may be they will get the W like the men did....but they'd have to begin to play like the men did.

Dayton 42, Creighton 43 at the end of 3. Our upperclassmen (women) need to lead this team. Turnovers, lack of offense and no hustle is not being a leader. Maddy going in the beginning of the 4th says how this team is disjointed. Try anything...

Jenna, Kelly and Lauren little production from the guards, too many turnovers and missed ft's.

They have a long way to go to come together as a team.

Scaife seems to be the only flyer who can create her own shot. Jenna, Kelly and Lauren need to be open to shoot.

2-4 on the season.....can they put it together

and salvage the season.

Within the final 3 minutes:

-Turnover
- Surrender a 3pter
- Get a shot blocked
- Miss defensive rbd, surrender 2 FTs
- 1-2 FTs

Normally when your opponent shoots 34% you win by 15-20pts. But 9asts, 15TOs, outrebounded 38-32. Until we rebound and protect the basketball, nothing changes. We are physically inept.

Judging from social media, it looked more like a vacation than a business trip. They played like it. If its my program, nobody sniffs the beach until the basketball is over. I want total focus on the job at hand. And if travel schedule doesn't allow for it -- you're payment is in sunshine.

The losing doesnt bother me. New coach. New system. The absence of toughness and basketball fundamentals bothers me. Can it be solved w/o different personnel? Only if you think these things are not at the DNA level.

Lots of hoops left to play, but argh. Right now there isnt anything we do well. We dont shoot it well (36% FG!!!!), shoot FTs (67%!), shoot treys (31%!), rebound, take care of the ball, avoid fouling, draw fouls, cause turnovers, etc. We may be seeing what we are. If nothing else, we've been very consistent too.

According to the radio announcer, all the teams took part in beach activities which were organized by the tournament.

OK vacation is over, now its back to business and Dayton basketball. Go flyers its a long season and anyone can go into a slump (see below) and come out of it.

Nationally ranked SLU fell to Little Rock 56-43. After scoring 19 points in the first quarter, the billikins only scored 25 points the rest of the way.

This was SLU's first loss and only LR's 2nd win of the season.

I've been critical of Scaife not because of her energy and passion but her determination to score once she has the ball even if the lane is blocked by trees. However perhaps she sees that Jenna, Lauren and Kelly can't get open to take a shot and she has the ability to create her own space, so I'll give her a pass.

Like to see Scaife and Harris get more playing time. Today we got inside presence but the perimeter failed us along with poor ball handling.

Need to learn how to finish. Our losses (except for UConn) came after big leads and the ability to hold them. Pressure is bothering the team and I thought we'd be better at handling it.

Today both our dependable free throw shooters hit only 1 of 4 in closing minutes of the game which could have tied it and gone into OT.
