The Preseason AP poll was released today. Dayton got one vote and is tied for 48th. Not a lot of love shown for VCU as they barely squeak in at #25. Davidson is 31st.

Kenpom is out with his predictions...Dayton...#57...21-8, 13-5...losses to Georgia, SMC, Colorado, at VCU, at URI, and 3 more A10 losses due to the cumulative statistical percentages of the close games over the A10 schedule.

I wonder if these predictions were made prior to the announcement of Chase being available all year? Perhaps that could be worth a win over Georgia and another win or two in the Atlantic 10? that would put us in the neighborhood of 23 or 24 wins. Which we absolutely need in order to go to the dance.

Prediction sites like Kenpom are usually much harder on a team that is going to rely on transfers, especially if the players did not play much at their previous school. Our only transfers with significant data are RC and JT. I would expect those predictions to change once they get data on CJ and IW.

While the addition of Chase to start the year might lead to more victories, I doubt it would have lead to more votes/points in the AP or coaches poll. Chase Johnson is an afterthought at best at this point to anyone not rooting for the team on the hill save perhaps a few A10 fans who really, really follow the A10.

He has it right...he has 29 games, he can't predict the latter 2 Maui games since the opponent depends on the outcome of the 1st and 2nd games...that makes 31 games.

I am surprised that Davidson is actually worse than us, most everybody has Davidson around #2 iinm.

Predictive calculations can only put the games that are on the schedule vs. known teams. The 2 other Maui games are not up yet. We can do better than just trying to bury any kind of prediction measure statistic. KenPom has done so much good for CBB.
