Nevada was picked to finish 4th in the MWC at their league meetings. Utah State was 1st (@ Davidson) , SDSU (@ St Louy) 2nd, New Mexico (vs Bona) 3rd.

Well look at that! UMass, Fordham, LaSalle, and George Washington, not participating. hopefully this will incentivize one of these bottom feeders to actually do something. naaaaaahhh.

Interesting that VCU didn't get one of those top teams, although the games are a year away.

I thought the same, I assume VCU will be good again next year, not sure how the MWC projects moving forward. UNLV is one of their higher profile teams (not sure about talent), I wonder how much match ups were dictated by the AD's within each school?

The sad thing about UMass is they could actually own the Northeast if they wanted to. sure, UConn won a few years ago, but they haven’t been really exciting, and it’s not like Boston College has been blowing up NCAA records lately. nobody outside of Rhode Island cares about providence college.

No, this was not done strictly by attendance, or at least by last year's attendance. Otherwise Duquesne would have been out and UMass in.

These were the four teams with the lowest overall win totals for the season among the A10 teams. They were also the bottom four overall in Kenpom rankings.
UMass, Fordham, GW were bottom 3 of A-10 standings also. LaSalle finished 8-10 in A10, 2 games above Richmond and St. Joes, but they were only 2-11 in the non-conf.

Pairing factors were rumored to include conference ranking, NET ranking, and preseason predictions.
Here’s an article about it from last December: https://www.mwcconnection.com/2018/12/26/18143377/the-a10-mw-challenge

After all Neil Sullivan went thru putting this year’s schedule together I have to disagree. You grab it like a rabbit now and ask questions later.

I'm not going to kid myself into thinking the days of playing home and homes with Louisville are coming back but if UD makes the tourney next year and the program shows a positive trajectory they'll be more doors open in scheduling then there this off season

Your response makes no sense, Swampy. We know we will have a game with the MWC next season. There is nothing to "grab." All he is saying is they should have waited until after this season to make the match ups, when they will know more about the teams. Makes sense. They could have announced the games next April or May. They could even tell us now whether we will be at home or on the road, but hold off on the specific games until after the season.

This was not a UD decision. The 2 conferences set up the pairings

I think that is what he is saying. The conferences could/should have waited until after this season to make the pairings, when more would be known about the teams. I see no need to announce the pairings more than a year in advance.

I am inclined to not complain about this being announced now. Maybe they just wanted to get this done now before scheduling for next year starts up in the off season? Scheduling 10 games all within a few days of each other sounds possibly complex since 4 time zones are involved.

Yep, most of this are set up the summer before the season
I’ve never heard of conference challenge being set up this far in advance
