A few thoughts --
1) Didn't Dayton just give Martin Sheen an honorary degree? So wouldn't now be a good time to ask for a check to start that Martin Sheen School of Film?
2) If the kids likes cameras and angles, he really needs to see the "innovative" camerawork of WHIO-TV! Can't imagine he's ever seen a television broadcast anything like it, unless maybe his high school broadcasts games. Where I'm going with this, is the kid could make an immediate impact at Dayton, hopefully on the court, but DEFINITELY as an intern for such a media conglomerate.
3) He's not coming to Dayton.

Anyone heard about some kid named Xavier Cochran? Recruited walk-on or scholarship offer?
@INBballSource
Ann Arbor (MI) Huron guard Xavier Cochran said he will pick between Dayton, IPFW, Youngstown St., Western Michigan or prep school next week.

Here is his Verbal Commits page: http://verbalcommits.com/players/xavier-cochran
And just to be clear, this does not mean that he verballed to Dayton.

seems like we're the outlier among that group of schools
I want to say maybe I saw his name pop up when he was a sophomore/early junior year when we have maybe a wider net but nothing recently

The article lists 8 offers, including Rhode Island. According to another article, Rhode Island was his first offer. Seems both Hurley brothers were pretty high on him at one point, but of the latest bunch named, Dayton is the outlier for sure.

According to Matt Schwade at FlyerHoops.net, Xavier Cochran does not have an offer and has not been recruited by UD in over a year.

Sounds like the better offers have dried up, so going the prep route and reclassifying to 2016 might be a good move for him.

Interesting. I noticed Dayton True Team is only following two transfer candidates - Braeden Anderson and Josh Cunningham. Cunningham is the better player though.

Nice research! 100% right re:Cunningham. He's got three years of eligibility, has put up excellent numbers in his 1 year, would have a year to develop (always huge for inside players) and would really be quite the coup for us.
I'd love to get him and another 5th year big, so Cunningham could take over for the 5th year guy.

My only quibble with Cunningham is he wouldn't balance classes out as I'd hoped a transfer would, but Cunningham is really good, so would definitely be happy if Dayton could get him.

Read Alexander will decide (announce his decision) between Tennessee and New Mexico.
Cleveland State transfer Anton Grady also supposed to decide soon. From what I have read, sounds like Wichita State is the clear front runner and I'm not sure the interest with UD was mutual (on his end).
Would be nice to discuss some UD recruiting news instead of the other non-news/no-news-is-good-news stuff.

Do you think that recruits are reluctant to commit to Dayton until the Florida situations plays out?

IMO there is a short period here where recruits might feel it's wise to wait a few weeks until the dust settles. I also don't think it's a hyper critical period for UD either, as long as it's resolved in the next month. I don't see this as much more than another speed bump.
But contrary to some, I don't feel this potential change anxiety will spread to the already committed recruits. Sam Miller seems to be a very high character young man, one who likely scoped out Dayton as a total package. That doesn't change if Arch leaves.
Ryan Mikesell loves Dayton and Ohio and he has said so. I think he can be counted on. His family can watch him play. He likes the course options Dayton has to offer.
Xeyruis Williams is a local prospect and obviously wants his family to watch him play. He's not an OSU target, and he is much better than the MAC. There are no other decent programs close to Wayne.
John Crosby fits perfectly into a progression at the point guard. He won't start, but will play valuable minutes off the bench while he backs up Scoochie allowing Darrell to play the 2 where he is a natural. I don't know where he would go to top that career path within a strong NCAA's level D1 roster.
This is much different than what Miller was faced with in Gibson and Henton. They had invested themselves in Brian Gregory alone, and not much else at Dayton apparently.
2 cents

A recruit doesn't have to sign an LOI to enroll next summer, so there could be a kid that is "committed to UD" but hasn't made it official while this plays out. Or perhaps, Archie hasn't found anyone he thinks is worthy of the scholarship that also wants to come play at UD, so it could be the case where there is nothing to report no matter the Florida situation.

A couple points on timing:
1) most transfers are focused on finals (rightly so) up until about now so that is probably the primary reason there hasn't been much recent activity on the transfer front.
2) if Cunningham makes a visit, I would construe that to be a VERY good sign about Archie's intentions. He is tight with KD and if KD is telling himAM looks solid at UD, that would keep Cunningham interested if he has interest today. However, the converse is not true. If Cunningham does not visit UD, I don't think you can draw a conclusion that AM is headed to UF.

Alexander to Tennessee.
I've never actually seen this tweet from Grady about the 4 hours but supposedly he is going to announce today or tomorrow.
I think Archie is just being super selective and keeping it close to the vest as usual. If we hear about an official visit I think we can safely assume that guy is very high on our wish list.

Maybe the HS kids. As for transfers, I don't think UD has much of a chance with the current roster. The current roster is pretty deep. Transfers can go to many other places and have much more playing time.

Except for a big guy. Someone who is 6'9" or bigger and physical would probably get good minutes right away.

For the most part I agree with you. But there are a few exceptions of kids who are very good (Jordan Sibert), highly rated recruits coming out of high school (Jordan Sibert), who for whatever reason are not happy and getting the playing time they deserve (Jordan Sibert), who would love to play for a very talented team with a great coaching staff, who makes yearly deep runs into the NCAA tournament. Winners want to play with winners.
So the question is, any Jordan Siberts still looking to transfer?

I'm guessing that Grady will not qualify academically. He tweeted that he would be 4 hours away from Cleveland. Wichita is 995 miles from Cleveland which is 14 hours by car or 2 hours by jet. He needs to work on his math skills.

It will be interesting to see how Grady does against good competition. His big knock at CSU was that he could only play inside at center, had little outside game and struggles against bigger opponents. I will take our two, Pollard and Pierre, and not think twice about not getting Grady.

I'd argue this year's team has a lot more depth than the UD teams had when Vee and Jordan came to UD. Archie was still building his program at that point and needed some more depth.
This team could use another big though.

Any buzz on St. John's decommit, Samir Doughty? Class of 2015 guard who decommitted and was rumored to be reclassifying and doing a year at prep school. Dayton True Team recently started following him (@_BigTicket20) on Twitter and Doughty is now following the account as well. It is the only school he seems to really be following. If Dayton is recruiting him, I wonder if it is as a late signee for 2015, or maybe they're just looking at him for 2016?

Dayton was reportedly recruiting him, but he just committed to VCU. Eligible for this year.
