Steve, Miller and X better dominate the low post and boards this game as Furman obviously doesn't require their players lift weights.

This Furman game will test whether we have learned anything about defending the 3pt. They will shoot 25+ three point shots in the game, and they are capable of lighting it up. But if we defend like we know how, a lot of those will end up as layups and dunks at the other end.
They have a puny SOS and maybe a worse RPI, but we can use this game to get back to Flyer basketball.
But they have the potential to get hot from the field.

Vegas opened at UD -16.5.
If degenerate gambling were still one of my hobbies, I would get down on Dayton. I can see Mikesell with a big game (if he plays) from outside and Big Steve down low.
Keep an eye on the line...it should climb a bit before tip.

Boy, we are in a funk on both sides of the court. I am beginning to think we need to go smaller and push the ball.

The Flyers are not at all mentally sharp. They look like they are in a fog...merely going through the motions.

Kyle Davis is really hustling tonight, but our ball movement is so very poor. Then Furman hits a prayer from 3-land. We simply cannot cover up the 3-ball...how many times are the Flyers going to give up these shots?

Some of these lineups Archie is putting out there are just awful. He just can't play more than 2 subs at one time and that's stretching it. Thank goodness Pierre is coming back.

Sam Miller comes into the game. Furman immediately takes it right at him and scores. He simply is not ready to play at this level yet.
And Archie immediately yanked him and put Wherli. Miller may barely the rest of the year with Pierre back.

This is a very poor half of basketball. Archie needs to light a fire uunder their butts at halftime. The Flyers aren't getting that crisp ball movement that has become their bread and butter.

Crosby, Darrell, Mikesell, Pollard, and Wherli = 5 straight points by Furman
That lineup simply can't be on the court.

I'm simply not a fan of playing so many subs at the same time. Have to find a better rotation so they aren't all out there at the same time.

If this team gets hot from the 3-line, we very could suffer another loss. The last three halves have been some of the Flyers' poorest play since the disastrous Buffalo game.

Agree, we are not the team we were two weeks ago. Everyone seems to be in a funk. Can't see DP being held out for very long given the miss-mash of lineups we are using. Thought lineups would be pretty well set by game 10 but that doesn't appear to be the case.

We have played some bad first halves this year, but that is the worst and against a mediocre team. Pollard is going through the motions out there. Hope Archie told him to play or sit the entire half.
Being outrebounded and shooting 35%. Our offense is pathetic.

It isn't like the starters are lighting the world on fire offensively.
I would play grade school basketball against UD. Pressure the ball and play 4 guys in the lane.

The look on Archie's face after the foul on Crosby says it all. He is exasperated with the subs. He knows he has to play them some to rest the starters but they all just seem to be able to do nothing.

Crosby gets under control and executes a superb drive and kick to Daryl Davis.

Baby D getting untracked. 3 pointers are looking a lot softer.

Good observation. When Darrell's threes settle softly into the net like that you know he is feeling it.

And there is the confirmation that Sam Miller ain't playing anymore. Wehrli in for Big Steve instead of Miller.

Makes no sense to play Wehrli over Miller. They are about evenly ineffective, but Sam is a frosh.
BTW Werhli with no points and no rebounds and shaky defense.

moved the ball the 2nd half and KP quit forcing offense. the charge call against KP was ridiculous.

It's not the stat line that matters between Miller and Wehrli. Miller's defense is so much worse that Wehrli's. Archie can at least count on Wehrli to not give up a wide open layup. But this won't matter anymore with Pierre back.

Don't mean to be debbie downer given that UD just won, however 16 assists against 16 to's against Furman? What gives? Flyers are not taking care of the rock.

Oh, it will still matter, just not as often. Steve is still going to need to be spelled and when Pollard has to sit with fouls, one of those two need to be in there.

forcing too much offense by trying to drive into gaps that aren't there and passing to guys inside that are not open.

I think also, when JC is at the point, we tend to turn it over more and he got a lot of minutes tonight. Not just him though as he usually enters the game with a slew of other backups most of the time.

they need to run the offense with more pace, they did so in the 2nd half and wore down Furman. Who knew that good things happen when you keep the defense scrambling.

My guess is that Archie will play Bobby when it really matters and Xeyrius is really the true sub at the four spot if Pollard gets in foul trouble. All I can guarantee is that Sam Miller is going to spend a lot of time on the bench.

Sam played pretty well in the last ten minutes, as he did in the Vandy game. He plays like, well a freshman big who needs to play to develop. Archie is way smarter than us and will continue to play Sam and Crosby, because two years from now this team needs them.

We outrebounded Furman by 23 in the second half, after being out bounded by 2 in the first. We allowed Furman to shoot 43% in the first half, and 33% in the second. Just a total lack of first half effort by everyone who played. The half time locker room must have been interesting.
