"FTS" Greatest Hits, Volume II

WEST BLOOMFIELD (MI) -- As promised, the following are the #5 to #1 “FTS Greatest Hits” as voted on by you, the UD Pride readers, with your very own eyeballs over the last 10 years. Let’s get right down to it, shall we?

#5 The Social Network
Date published: 3/31/2011
Views: 10,768
Link: http://www.udpride.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17884
Synopsis: My, how times have changed in the social media arena over the last 6 years. When I published this list of all the Twitter accounts of then-current as well as former UD players, a lot of UD Priders took exception to my doing so. The fact that this piece was published right as BG was hitting I-75 South for Georgia Tech might have had something to do with the heavy traffic.

#4 It Is On, Part Deux
Date published: 2/28/2009
Views: 11,584
Link: http://www.udpride.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9029
Synopsis: Ahhh, the good old days when the X/UD hate was palpable! This was the pre-game column to the 2nd game of Dayton/Xavier A-10 home and home series. Unfortunately for moi, it was a road game at Cintas and we all know how those suckers turned out. Where are MB posters like Theohuxtable and X Factor now that we need them?

No one at the time picked up on the fact that this preview was a near-carbon copy of “It Is On” penned prior to the UD home game three weeks earlier:http://www.udpride.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8415

#3 Best of the Best
Date published: 4/5/2008
Views: 11,692
Link: http://www.udpride.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5202
Synopsis: This was a write-up of my observations at the 2008 Michigan High School Basketball All-Star Game, featuring Xavier recruit Brad Redford and UD signee Paul Williams, as well as current NBA Champion Draymond Green. Another case where X traffic probably helped to drive readership.

#2 Dear Coach K
Date published: 4/7/2014
Views: 12,042
Link: http://www.udpride.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25380
Synopsis: One of my all-time favorites. And yes, I actually did send a hard copy to Coach K via US Mail and no, I never did hear back from him. Now that Dayton-area native Luke Kennard is gone, I don’t see any reason for the Head Dukie to take me up on my suggestion.

#1 Tour of the Magazine Rack
Date published: 10/19/2009
Views: 14,942
Link: http://www.udpride.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11061
Synopsis: If you would have told me when I started doing this 17 years ago, that almost 15,000 people would read something I had written, I would have told you that you were loco. But here we are. The ‘Tour of the Magazine Rack’ used to be an annual feature in these parts, but none of them attracted the interest that this one from Chris Wright’s senior year did. The only thing that I can figure is that this is testament to the power of the searchable keyword. People from all the other A-10 programs probably Googled the name of their school or that of their star player and this baby popped up.

Well, there you have it…The Top 10 “FTS Greatest Hits.” Future summer re-run episodes will include compilations of interviews I have conducted as well as high school players I have seen play.

In the meantime, get out and enjoy the summer!

That’s it “From the Swamp.”
