Butler Game Thread
Dayton takes set one 26-24.
No video or sound.
Sure would have been nice to watch or at least listen to the game. The announcers will have nothing to show for their efforts. What a waste.

Amazing Dayton blows an 8 point lead and blows set too losing 28-26.
Way too many errors. Don't seem like they learned that much against the bigger teams.
If they lose this match its back to the drawing boards. Need lots of work.
Butler has the momentum and confidence. UD has to be shaking in their boots after blowing a comfortable lean.

Looks like Butler came ready to play. Dayton still having trouble carrying the target on their backs.
Last two sets UD has not come out of the half ready to play. Been blown out in sets 3 twice now in a row. If they don't bring it after half it could be a very long season. Desire is half the battle. And right now Butler has it.

Get what you are saying but I don't always equate mistakes with lack of desire. Sloppiness is not necessarily lack of effort and desire.

True, not meaning UD don't have desire but Butler has it more. This is their superbowl and a win against UD will serve them well. The underdog generally has it more than the top dog.
Looks like UD has brought it after halftime but they had that big a lead in set two and blew it.

Dayton leads set 3 15-8, but that is where they were in set two and still lost it. Lets see if they can hold it.

Would like to have been a fly on the wall in the locker room at half. Dayton win set 3 25-10.
We still only have 4 blocks for the match to Butlers 6.

Flyers take set 4 25-14 and match 3-1.
After a questionable start they came together after the half and put the buldogs away like they should have in the first two sets.
Special thanks to UD for the video and broadcast

Nailbiter for 2 sets, then Blitzkrieg. Hey, Butlers NOT a bad team. More than happy to get them outta the way early. Same with SLU. Might as well shovel the heavy loads early on!

From my novice viewpoint:
Blocking was very weak first 2 sets. Lots of unforced errors in first set, but we pulled it out. Had 14-7 lead in second set and blew it. Allowed 2 service aces at 24-23 and 26-26 in second set. We watched both drop in as we thought they were going long. We could have easily gone to the break down 0-2. Seemed like our serve put a lot more pressure on Butler in the last two sets. Our digging improved immensely as well in those last 2 sets. Butler got called for 3 overlap errors - they lined up wrong on the serve. You could go a whole season and not see even one of those.
