Sheffield Critical of Tournament Format
Not a good look for the NCAA - so what else is new?

The suggestion to hold the games at the three universities seems like a really good one. Given the political climate surrounding women's sports, one would think that the NCAA would want to put it's best foot forward, or not.

Nebraska’s HC Cook has been critical of a lot of tournament decisions for the last 2-3 months. I agree with his perspective. The use of these other venues was discussed awhile ago, but NCAA wanted the “bubble”. A couple months ago that was probably the right decision.
But the no announcers is just ridiculous considering there won’t be fans allowed fir these initial rounds except limited family/friends. I guarantee fans would pay $25 to stream unlimited early matches to pay for announcers. Heck...UD would have probably set up its own announcers using staff personnel already traveling with the team if they were given the chance. If it’s personnel already with the team, COVID should not be an issue.

ESPN Relents
ESPN will now provide announcers for every match in the tournament:

Don't strain yourself patting yourself on your back!
"ESPN is committed to presenting the NCAA Volleyball Championship in its entirety for the first time this year, including the first and second round matches . . ."
I believe in a non-pandemic year, host schools provided early round coverage.
There are no host schools this year.
