I just want to see him get on the floor - and I think he needs to get out of New York to do that.

Agreed, put up some numbers now, and then transfer them into a free agent contract with a real organization. Golden State and Dallas are good fits.

Obi needs to play somewhere that has motion to their offense and a team that passes the ball to the player in the most advantageous position to score. Also known as "team basketball". This new NBA of 1 on 1 match-ups with the rest of the team watching is never going to play into his strengths.

There are teams in the NBA that play motion offense. The Knicks were 2nd last in assists per game.

I’m no real fan of the NBA, but I loved watching the Golden State teams of a few years ago, with Steph Curry. Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant, with all the ball movement and teamwork. If Obi can get in a situation like that, he could be an All Star in a few years. But yeah, playing for a team where the term “offensive scheme” is a double entendre, he’ll never reach his full potential.

A differing view concerning Obi going to the Cavs.
Toward the bottom of the article.

Like Ive said, Obi is a thoroughbred racehorse. Sticking him in the coffin corner every possession doesnt exploit his strengths. He needs to play on the modern version of the Showtime Lakers.

Why did Durant leave GS? Salary cap issues?

I’ve said since Day 1 after Obi started his last season for the Red and Blue that, as far as former NBA players are concerned, he reminds me most of James Worthy and Robert Horry. Worthy for his ability to finish on the break and maneuver in the low post. Horry for his ability to pick & pop. I think Obi can excel in either scheme. In the Knicks’ current scheme? Not so much.
