Does probation mean we can not participate in the NCAA tournament next year? I'm not clear even after reading both articles.

The Dayton Flyers volleyball program received one year of probation from the NCAA, a $5,000 fine and other penalties for contacting prospects too early and holding impermissible tryouts...

The findings in the case did not influence the fairness of any contest nor affect the eligibility of any competing student-athletes. The results have no implications related to postseason competition, team records or scholarships...

“The University believes the issues presented — which mostly stem from template emails sent to club coaches and the placement of a clinic link on its website — are primarily the result of cumbersome, ambiguous, and onerous regulations in effect during the 2018-19 academic year. We now consider the matter resolved.”

The NCAA real tough guys on minor infractions or smaller schools. When it comes to the major infractions, and or a blueblood, not so much. UD was wrong, and accepted the "punishment". NCAA real good at nailing the folks that snitch a candy bar, not so good on the bank robberies.

First of all, mistakes were made and UD stands tall and negotiates a path forward. I’m proud of that and applaud the University and staff.

For a historical reference, the time period is right after the NCAA changed recruiting rules and my head was spinning just reading the last paragraph of the DDN article. Why can’t this be a lot simpiler? But it doesn’t appear that this is a case of we knew the rules and were trying to skirt around them. This appears to be more of a first time around the block in a new system and we interpreted them wrong and maybe made some mistakes.
