This is a photo from daytonflyers.com - the NIU match. EDITED NOTE- it's the second photo on the last line.

Two women in red on the right appear to be Laura and Jamie in street clothes. Jamie with a sling on her right arm/shoulder - her swinging arm.

No clues as to Laura's injury. The sling on Jamie however can't be good news. Slings are sometimes used for broken arms, but with a cast. There doesn't appear to be a cast. Slings are mostly used today to stabilize a shoulder injury.

I was hoping with the report from the red-blue scrimmage that it was an injury that just happened and the sling was a precaution until examined thoroughly this past week. We are now a week or more with a sling. That's not good. Slings are not friends with baseball pitchers and volleyball players.

A dislocation could be out 1-2 months. Rotary cuff injury is 6 months to a year if surgery is required. The problem with shoulder injuries is under no circumstances do you want to bring someone back too soon. Every time there is a set back or re-injury, scar tissue builds up and dramatically impacts if the player will ever recover to play again.

I'm hoping for the best here, but everyone needs to follow the doctor's instructions to the letter if this is a shoulder injury. Jamie has three years of a very bright career ahead of her as a superstar Flyer. If she needs to sit this year out to recover, so be it. Do whatever it takes to get healthy.

On the positive note, Laura's injury doesn't appear to be foot, ankle, knee or leg related. No reports of limping or crutches. Hopefully she is back sooner than later. Prayer going out to both for full recoveries. As a fan, I'm going forward with the assumption they aren't available to play anytime soon and looking at match ups with the roster from this weekend.
