UD Pride Bracket Challenge
Ok Flyer Fans, ESPN doesn’t do an NIT challenge, so we’re stuck with this. Rollo was last heard muttering something about Gillooly at the Kettering Rec Center ice rink and asking patrons if they’ve ever heard of CE80, so it’s getting real.
Follow the link below to create your bracket(s). Password is Rudy.
Get in it to win it.

Winner gets $50 from "man of his word" udscott??
He's gone radio silent on these kinds of posts. If he had my mailing address, I'd expect Kramer knocking on my door with a "sack full of pennies"
I'm also kind of expecting a PM from him asking if I will accept BitCoin.

CE80?!! He's a dead man! I hope he knows how to sleep with his eyes open cuz the King ain't layin' down until the heavyweight title is in his royal grasps! As for the rest of you free-wheeling bastages, don't bother joining...this is between me and CE80. Mano-y-mano. To the death.
PAIN!!!

After sitting through my third one and done A10 tournament game, I had no interest in this year's NCAA tournament. That has all changed.
The thing is for me, I only need to beat one person to consider my bracket a success.

Max entries per contestant was set by ESPN at 25. Just be glad Rollo didn’t put his knowledge of the periodic table to good use and subject you to King Rollo’s Rhodium bracket...

Rollo prefers 3-somes and trifectas. Deal with it!
And has anyone checked the standings this morning? Don't look up CE80, I'm afraid you'll get whiplash!
FYI...the King is leaving for Spring Break and the beaches of south Fla any second. I'm leaving the royal computer at home...I'll deal with my lofty status and CE80's sore neck upon my triumphant return!
All Hail King Rollo...the Day 1 Leader!

“Flaming Anteaters Bull their way into Sat/Sun play as they Race to victories over P5 scrubs”
If you’re like me, the best part of the tourney are the little guys sticking it to the P5 overlords. Once it becomes Duke v. UK, my interest wanes faster than McKinley Wright after Archie left.
Unfortunately, the A-10 was less than an afterthought in this year’s tournament. VCU tried to make it interesting in the 2nd half, but SLOOOO (they purportedly of an expanded NBE) did their best NBE imitation and choked in the 1st round. DePaul welcomes your arrival, Billikens.
Standings thru round 1:
Flyer Fever 270 pts, max possible 1830 pts
Flyerman 260 pts, max possible 1840 pts
King Rollos Gold 260 pts, max possible 1820 pts

Meh
Only two teams seeded lower than a #4 have advanced to the Sweet Sixteen, and those two teams are Oregon & Auburn. This is when I wish the Masters started two weeks earlier (and I absolutely hate golf).
I really thought the Terriers were going to take down Big Blue, but too many "I'm going to be the hero and shoot this grossly off balance three" doomed the plucky dogs from Spartanburg (that and inexplicably playing straight up D at the end with 30 and change seconds on the clock). I didn't see it, but Tacko lived up to his billing and it was apparently a great game, albeit not the result I had hoped.
I guess I'll need to get onboard the Cougar train now.
Standings thru Round 2 (points/max possible)
Yikes: 520/1800
Viperstick #1: 520/1800
Rollo's Silver: 520/1800
Buick: 520/1800
Flyerman: 520/1800

UCF had every chance to win that game and should have. The refs were a bit one sided for Duke I felt like but missing s layup and put back with 1 sec left doomed them. Not to mention the missed dunk with 1min left that would have put them up by 6

I hate hearing all of the talking heads that keep saying college basketball needs Zion. I think college basketball needed UCF a lot more than Zion. As mentioned above 14 of 16 chalk and Auburn a 5 seed and a 12 seed Oregon, which is just another P5 that underachieved in the regular season ala Syracuse the year they barely got in and then went to the Final Four. As someone who loves college basketball, and especially March Madness, I'm not very excited about the rest of this year's tournament.

Sweet 16:
Oh goody. The Elite 8 will consist of two ACC-B1G Challenge games, the SEC tourney finals, and Catholics vs. Convic...er...Red Raiders.
Tough to have gotten excited about this round as the only two non-P5 teams in it were the Zags and Houston. I saw about 30 seconds of the Cats-Cougs game as I was walking out of the airport and it looked like Sampson's guys were giving Calipari's guys all they could handle. Sorry it ended with the Cats advancing, but that's life. I agree with whomever posted that seeing Roy-boy fuming on the sidelines was entertaining, but the result is one of the founding members of the Sweathogs gets a shot at a Final Four. Oh, I guess it's been settled--timeouts are for the weak.
With that, here's the results thru the Sweet 16:
Name / Points / Max Possible Points
1. dayton8704254 4 / 790 / 1750
1. Flyerfever / 790 / 1750
3. TxFlyer / 770 / 1490

I enjoyed hearing people bragging about their brackets early in the tournament. It wasn't hard to have a good bracket when all 4 #1's, #2's and #3's were in the sweet 16. Chalk ruled. But I will congratulate anyone who had 3 or more of the Final 4.
And for those pooh-pooh the tournament because of the chalk. 3 out of the 4 Elite 8 games were fantastic basketball and riveting. Very few officiating complaints. Just good basketball with players making huge baskets and defensive stops. Along with a number of tough coaching decisions...too foul or not, how to use timeouts. Even the sweet 16 had a number of great games. I feel like normally the first wknd is more riveting than the 2nd, but this year, the 2nd wknd was fantastic. And even though in the end, its 4 P5 teams, they are from 4 different conferences with 2 teams making their first Final Four appearance and the only #1 to make it was probably the least likely #1 to be in most peoples Final Four brackets, and their first appearance in 35 years.
I think this has been a very compelling tournament.

There is only one bracket that can score more than me and we have different champs. Comes down to Virginia and MSU...whoever loses first, or same time, determines the winner

Glad to see the Dookies lose a close one. They were fortunate to get this far with 1pt and 2pt wins. Hardly a good performance for the #1 overall seed and having a supposed superman on the roster. Being from Michigan, I'm happy to see the Spartans succeed. Thought the Boilermakers would win also but they faded at crunch time.

The King is officially dead. Long live the King.
I’m sure he’s just being magnanimous and allowing someone else the limelight, but it is mathematically impossible for any of Rolo’s brackets to win. Similarly, I’m out. Same with last year’s champ, CE80. Lot of people with MSU, Virginia, and even Auburn winning it all who are lurking pretty far down the list, so it’s still up for grabs.

The King is going to need a lot more precious metals if he is ever going to win this thing.

Final Four
Didn't. Watch. Anything.
On the road all day, so only heard about it second hand. Sounds like Brucie got screwed. Karma. Looks like the Red Raiders are a force to be reckoned with. Just goes to show why coaches jump from a mid-major to Also-Ran-U in some P5 conference. Is Tech the Florida of the 2020s?
Unlike last year, there is still some drama as to who is going to win this thing. Several contestants have UVa winning which would obviously put them at the top of the standings, so bragging rights come down to whether the Hoos do or don't. Of note, Rollo & CE80 are somewhere in LaSalle- Fordham territory.
1. Flyerfever 1030/1030/Duke
2. Buick 1000/1000/Gonzaga
3. UDFred1985 980/1300/Virginia
7. AngryTurtle 910/1230/Virginia
10. Tartan41 870/1190/Virginia

I am happy for whoever wins this. More important to me is that I beat 2 out of Rollo's 3 brackets and my finish of 29 is better than the average of Rollo's 3 brackets (13, 37, 50 for an average of 33).

You can call me Fred
Or you can call me Ed
Or you can call me Jay
Or you can call me Ray
But you doesn't have to call me King (I'm not Rollo)
You can just call me the 2019 UDPride Bracket Challenge Winner
Thank you, thank you
PS: And you doesn't have to look at the bottom of the list of brackets. In fact, King Rollo, could you command your loyal subjects to not look there?

Sir Viperstick...you may want to re-evaluate the winner before CE80 wakes up. With 73 participants, it appears the average Bracket finished at 36.5 which is higher than CE80's 29th place...so you know he's going to expect the Trophy. And if it can be proven that Fred/UDGutter is 1/512th Russian, there will be an investigation! Just sayin'...
Congrats to all who played! The King is ready for 2019-20 and predicts his average Bracket will improve 10-fold!

And, if anyone bet on the Superfecta: 4th Place - T-Bone 84, 1140 pts. Not bad, considering I was @ 69th two weeks ago.

Congratulations, You can place your participation trophies for 37th and 50th place along side the one for 16th. Your royal trophy case must be getting full.

It's too bad that guy in 5th place did not win it all, as we really need a new King in town
50th place is royally unacceptable for any royalty.
