Experts have conferred, and this is believed to be first @DaytonMBB game since '79 without either @larryhansgen or Bucky on the radio call.

Those two big seniors will be a challenge for our defense. I hope we can stay out of foul trouble.

Michaels said that Roger Ayers is one of the refs tonight. Could be good news for a team with a short bench - he usually doesn't blow his whistle unless his life depends on it.

This is not a good start. UMass looking like they have a Davidson attitude. Scoochie has to get a faster down court pass to break the double team, and get an easy shot.

The McKillop Model
is being applied by UMASS quite well. Press UD and raise the tempo to wear out the 7 players. Scoochie will have to control tempo by playing defense with the offense.

Dayton's Defense
did not travel to UMASS. They are on pace to give up 85 points to UMASS and that will mean a loss.

Pierre missed that early three badly and has not participated since. Bad sign, as we tend to not do well when Pierre doesn't show up.

Down by two but this will be A GREAT WIN if they can pull it off. I can't see how seven guys can hold up against this pressure and pace for the entire game.

These are the worst announcers I've ever heard. Don't remember Adrian Branch being that bad, but this play by play guy shouldn't be allowed near a basketball game. Dude doesn't even say anything most of the time. Just dead silence.

Only five turnovers and down by 3 on rebounds, but we cannot give up that many point blank shots and win. They are at 52% and we are at 43%

Pretty apparent UMass is going to get their points tonight, so Pierre is going to have to step up and score. Pollard and Sibert can't do it all.
Also as nice a guy as Tom Michaels is, he is not very prepared as an announcer in this game.

That is the second bad outside shot by Pollard. He should not do that except in a blowout game.

I can accept being down by 2 at the half. UMASS is hot and probably making Kellogg happy with the pace, which they expect to wear UD down. Not unexpected.
We are in a good position and it will be a good second half if fatigue does not become a factor. It would be a great away win.

We're actually playing fairly well, but UMass is taking advantage of their size advantage down low. No player on either team has more than one foul (I like how this game was officiated in the first half), so if we can get a few more stops down low and keep up the energy level on both ends, I like our chances...

Pierre is our leading rebounder with 5, and is playing good D. I do not understand why he is not posting at the free throw line, which may pull the big beast out. Part of our success is only 5 turnovers and 3 fouls. I hope the press will not wear us out.

Well I'm kind of used to watching events called in a studio off of monitors just not in English as most events outside the home country are in a studio off monitors, heck some European soccer games on BeIn etc are done that way. Apparently though ESPN has decided to try this for a small number (45) of the 2700 or so games they show over all channels and espn3
OK back to the game, lets hope we can get our act together this would be a bad loss for us

No doubt we handle a press with guards, but can you imagine the lack of oxygen against an all out full court press all game like VCU will do unless the coach is sympathetic

Two bad defensive sequences. The first lob dunk was on Pierre, and the second was on someone not switching on a pick.

Our lack of size is being exposed tonight, and it seems like our lack of defensive intensity will be the story of this game. Hope they prove me wrong

Kyle is the only guy with two fouls. We will be able to use some at the end to stop the layups.

Offense is out of control.... Just aired a wide open 3.... Going to take a miracle .... Playing every aspect of the game very poorly.

This refereeing is silly. Probably helps us, but hard to watch. That one sequence I counted four slaps that were not called, not to mention the body checks.

Trading baskets. Better than falling further behind, but need to catch-up.

The question now is do we have enough energy to play hard D for the last four minutes? If we can we have a shot.

Pierre misses a critical layup and AM goes nuts....rightfully so. Have to make it. Still down 3.

That is a case where the brutal refereeing killed us, as Scoochie was pushed out.

Just checked the box score and our FTs hurt us bad tonight. 22 seconds to go, down 3 and UMASS has the ball.
