Awful, awful, awful.
Chatanooga 33 rebounds to Dayton 30 -- how does this happen!?!??!?!?! Chattanooga 9 offensive reobounds to Dayton's 4. And Dayton 12 turnovers to 10 for Mocs -- so they had +5 possessions. That is the difference in the game. Also 14 for 26 foul shooting.
Rebounding, turnovers, and foul shooting.

Hopefully Chattanooga can stay in the top 100. There are definitely worse potential losses on our schedule than this one.
At least Archie will get his wish now, we won't be ranked this week...

Free throws lost us this game. Don't get how we went 14-26, that's inexcusable, period. We have a whole week now to feel the pain from this loss.

Everything else constant, you can bring it down to the 12 missed free throws. I'm also pretty sure we missed at least front-end 1 and 1, so that's a minimum 13 points left at the FT line.

Reminds me of a loss to East Tennessee State that I think ended another streak at home a few years ago.... this loss is one that will sting for a while I am afraid.

Outrebounded 33-30 (including Mocs with 9 offensive rebounds to Dayton's 4); More turnovers with UD at 12 and Mocs at 10; and shoot 14-26 from the foul line.
Rebounding (hustle), turnovers (playing smart), and foul shooting (concentration + practice) = another chance lost to be in the top 25.
Sorry, but Chattanooga was not that good. You should always beat #110 at home. And Chattanooga #200 in the country rebounding and missing their top rebounder.
2011 = East Tennesee State #108
2012 = Buffalo #88
2013 = Weber State #74 & Illinois State #72
2014 = Illinois State #142 (away)
2015 = none
2016 = Chatanooga #107

Free throw shooting finally got us, including some big misses down the stretch...almost burned us @ Vandy.

We needed other players to step up tonight...and we didn't get it. Charles Cook performed a disappearing act in the game. Daryl Davis was not sharp at all. Our guards weren't sharp handling the basketball or closing out on the 3-ball. We have been burned nearly every game by the 3-ball; it was just a matter of time before it caught up with us.

Should have beaten them. But Not sure where you get that #110 number. Most rating are shown them a top 100 team. They just outplayed Dayton period.

Taking them lightly is what lost us the game. We don't have the killer instinct we had the last two years. Hopefully it's just youth. We seem to have a lack of leadership at the moment. Pierre can't come back soon enough.

We didn't have the defensive energy that we displayed in Nashville against Vanderbilt. We didn't force turnovers and some of our passes were lazy and ineffective.

Could not agree more, we need Pierre. With him, I think this team will be special. Without, I am not so sure.

Well- they definitely move up now. So in a way, beating Dayton makes this a good loss for Dayton since they now will have loss to a top 100 team

Someone posted that Vanderbilt gave us a "gift" by playing passively while Dayton played with hustle. But that's how you win games. Many times it simply comes down to who wants it more.
Congrats to Chattanooga, who wanted it more on this night...

Same ol Dayton Flyers, sniff at a top 25 ranking and $hit your pants. For whatever reason, no matter who the coach we just cant handle the thought of being nationally ranked. Sure gets old.

We let the Mocs shoot 7-15 from the 3-range. We were 3-13. Once a 3-shooting team gets hot and you can't retort with you own shooting, things go awry. That 4-point play was a killer. We need to play with much more energy on defense.

Good loss? you have got to be kidding. A few more "good losses" like this and we will be looking for a spot in the NIT. Seems that most times that the Flyers have a chance, or actually, get ranked, we tank. DP will help. We just don't seem to be able to handle success at times. On to Furman

There is no such thing as a "good loss" on your home court.

You know it's a bad game for the whole team when the POG is the guy who missed 8 free throws.

Until he corrects his shooting mechanics, I don't think it would improve his percentage. Using too much left hand, and it's causing a tilted rotation of the ball coming off his right hand.

Coming out of the preseason it looked like he had corrected those mechanics, and the results showed it. Tonight, it looked like he was using his 2013-15 form...and the results showed it.

The real mystery is how we only lost by two when you consider those stats. Not only was UTC +5 in possessions, they also shot @ 50% from deep. Seems like the real question should be, how did we ONLY lose by 2?

Yeah, i think it's confident on court Leadership that's missing. Not a knock on Scooch, it's the team. Pollard has swag, Scooch generally has leadership.
But when the other 8 are on the Floor, - i'm not seeing it. Definitely feeling the loss of Sibert in that regard in my opinion.
