In Will's full column he says that for NFL players that have played five or more years in the league, life expectancy is 60....less for linemen.

Will is very well respected and an avid sports fan. I presume his data are accurate. He cites references.

I have heard some stats that show NFL players have a longer life expectancy(Mike and Mike maybe?), but I don't know where the stats come from or how they are gathered. I will be interested to see how the stats change though in the coming years.
