Golden 'Dramatic athletic contest' Award - @ St. Bonnie
Those were the words of the TV announcer with about 40 seconds left and it seemed appropriate for today's Golden 2OT win at St Bonnie.
Who is the hero? How could you go wrong...I mean, unless you vote for Cunningham whose FT struggles are the reason why we didn't win in regulations...but who's paying attention to that now, huh? Not your KING!
So vote away...this will be good conversation.
King Rollo the Pumped Up...OUT!

Mikesell. He played defense on Stockard, although his arms may have been tired from lighting up Davis.
This poll could just as easily be the golden goat award. Lots of poor play against an undermanned Bonnie team that should have been an easier win. Grant couldn’t adjust to Stockard or their athletic defense.

I like the multiple choice format, especially in this game. There was more than one deserving player along with a deserving coach

I voted for everyone. We don't win this game without everyone's contribution. Even included Cunningham, despite his continued FT shooting woes. You walk out of Olean with a win, you take it and congratulate everyone. I might have included Policelli if he were a selection too.

Voted for Jordan and Ryan. I think we saw Jordan grow up today, and Ryan had a great overall game.

Split my vote between Chip and JD. Chip because of 21 points, 2 critical FTs, guarding the Bonnies’ best player down the stretch, and basically doing everything needed to win. JD because, despite playing out of position at the point, he hit 2 crucial shots down the stretch, and without those, we lose.
Wish I could have done this after the VCU game, because they both played well enough to win that game, too, but it was not meant to be. At least we got the W today.

Jordan's huge three to put us up by four reminded me of Sibert's late three against Syracuse, but it was a group effort.

Between my main man, Jordan, and Mikesell, but I give it to Mikesell. His consistent play the whole game, and defense let us get to overtime. Would have been an interesting vote if we lost. Lots of goat cheese out there today.

What is very encouraging is the trend in the last five games. I don't think any one player has repeated award performances. Any player can be the breakout player in any game. Must be a very difficult team to game plan and to coach against. You can't double team five players . . .and you can't figure out in advance which is the one that will stick it to you. We may be in a building year, but I sure do like what we are seeing. We lose one player this year, have all those players on the bench practicing with the team, and a bunch of younger players getting loads of experience. The future is very bright.

We should have learned this much.
I hope this showed our team, especially the guards, who they should get the ball to in crunch time when the opposition has to foul us. Mikesell was cool hand luke when all the rest could do was puke.

Ryan was the chip and the dip. He has been making some great defensive plays the past few games. He practically carried the first half.
Good comeback; Flyers showed serious fortitude getting the road victory. Same thing happened at Bonnaventure in January of 2014; we know where that took the Flyers , so here is to hoping a similar run is in the making.

Mikesell deserves to get this award with his hustle and regained shooting touch from 3 point land. Everyone contributed but he was clutch at the end from the free throw line and sealed the victory!
If we ever have a game where Ryan and Jordan are both hot from the three point line whoever we are playing better beware!

Her writing “would be” one of my greatest pet peeves with reporting in general these days, specifically the complete refusal of many reporters/anchors to use verbs in the past tense. How many times have you watched the local news recently and heard the broadcaster say something like “A driver loses control of his SUV and crashes into a parked car”? Ummm... I’m pretty sure the driver “lost” control of the SUV, and “crashed” into the parked car. Similarly, I’m pretty sure the Flyers “went” up 82-81, and that Bona’s potential game-tying 3-point shot attempt “was” just off the mark.
And to think: these people paid for 4 years of college to learn to speak like that. Ay, caramba!

Dec 23, 2016 against Virginia Military Institute. 7 players scored in double digits. Ryan Mikesell had 10 points in that game.

Today's "journalist" and reporters of ill-repute are a far cry from what they portray themselves to be.
I remember watching a reporter in the Boston area (IIRC) shortly after the 9/11 situation and stating on TV that the US Navy was sending 'battleships' out to sea to protect the eastern seaboard .. I bet that was a surprise to the US Navy Admirals. So much for being in step with the times and body of knowledge.
And for you readers of the DDN. Can you find any articles in that rag without a mispelliing? (For cutenss, I did somethnk similar! )
At least our diversity of journalistic endeavor is manifested within the embodiment of one .... Swampy Meadows
Sometimes it's hard to feel sorry for reporters covering Trump!

Mikesell comes out of nowhere with some awesome blocks. He stuffed one in the VCU game and the camera caught the "GIMME THAT S***" I recorded it but deleted in anger after we lost.
Awesome moment and maybe not what you'd expect from Mikey.

The goat in this game to me was Crutcher almost Crutcher. Was he sick?? He played terrible. His passes were inaccurate, he didn't get the team into an offensive flow, and couldn't even get a shot off near the rim most of the time.

Wass you talkings about? Izz got my edga ma cation by mail. Jay Leno used to have a “man walking” where he asked people on the street questions. Examples “would” be who is president, location of nations capital, state capitals and where they are located......only the senior citizens and a few of the kids parents could answer the questions correctly! Reading and learning are things of the past cuz texting has taken over.
On another note do you realize the “Meteorologists” on TV never give us a report on where those pesky meteors are hiding.

Unless I was high when they mentioned it, I think the color guy was Dr. John Giannini, former LaSalle coach. It sounded like a Dr. John thing to say.
