Spring Practice
According to my Flyer, Spring ball commences on March 20 concluding with the Spring game on April 22. Practices on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Almost time to strap them on and lace them up.
I plan on making the trip south as often as I can to watch practice and maybe play a little golf after with the kid.

NCAA First Four
I plan on getting to many practices as well. Just a note on the first practice...the NCAA First Four basketball tournament is on March 20, the night of the first fball practice. Traffic and parking around the arena/stadium will be a problem for any wanting to attend the 1st fball practice.

First Four should be the 13th and 14th, no? This A10 Men's Basketball Championship is on March 11th, which is Selection Sunday, so Tuesday and Wednesday after Selection Sunday should be First Four.

Basketball done when footballers practice
Figs got something. Here's a paragraph from the article about the $185 loge seats being available:
The “Road to the Final Four” will begin in Dayton for the 12th straight year when the NCAA Tournament’s ‘First Four’ will be played at the University of Dayton Arena from March 13-14.

It would be great to create a "game day" atmosphere around the Spring game as well as a few of the weekend practices

We stayed for about half of the practice last night. Saw lots of familiar fifth year faces. Pfleger, Weber, Harris, Welsh. Practice was spirited. QBs did well. Bardo has switched from #10 to #3. Looking forward to hitting a few practices this weekend.

Just a heads up that there is a coaching clinic this weekend for high school coaches so the practice on Saturday will start at 2:30 in the stadium instead of the normal 10:00 a.m. Saturday start time.

Glad to see they are having the Coaches Clinic. Good PR for recruiting! Heard that Coach McCoy is busing the squad to Solon High next spring so the Comet high school team can see the workout and the coaches attend the Clinic without travel. Kinda "we deliver" service
They used to advertise it with a page on the Flyer site that sometimes got forwarded. Haven't seen it mentioned since 2009? ( Just kidding about the bus ride to Solon, ya'all)

Watched a spirited practice yesterday under cloudy skies but perfect temps. It sprinkled a few times enough to effect the footballs, gloves and footing but not too any great degree. It was great to see a field full activity, coaches voices and players yelling when the offense or defense made plays. For the second practice I was impressed with the speed in all areas and the offensive timing. It will get a whole lot better but they are off to a great start. QB's were crisp, good catches in tight spots by the receivers and the defense was smothering at times. As a baseball guy, I guess this spring football thing will have to do. FLY RIGHT!

I will be headed to practice on Sunday, the first day in pads. I can' t believe the fifth year is here already and the fifth year I've been able to see some practices. Let me know if anyone has any questions or players to watch for during the practice.

I keep hanging around 'cause so much time was spent investigating these kids years ago - can't let go of UD football!
Should have Calanda Broncos final score on Twitter by then.

Accuracy was good ( practice ). All in all I thought Bardo looked more comfortable than last year. New coaching faces on the field that I didn't recognize.

As with most places, there are many great places to eat at in the Dayton area. My long time and all time favorite is by far The Pine Club on Brown Street. I do not remember exactly how long they have been there, but I remember going back in the early 1980's. Interesting place. They take no reservations and it is cash only! If you go, bring plenty of cash as it is not an inexpensive place. If you go at prime time, expect a long wait, (at least from my experience). The last time I went, I took a friend from Drake right after a game. So, we got there around 4:15 PM to 4:30 PM and had no problem. By the time we left around 5:30 PM it was filling up fast.... Come on Dayton fans, weigh in on the best places for a new UD family to get a great meal in the Dayton area!

Someone said Dayton has the greatest restaurant she has ever been to. Drawing a blank on the name, but there must only be one known by such a grandiose reputation.

Our tradition has been to go to a restaurant in the area after home games. There are many to choose from. There is a new sushi restaurant on Brown Street called Fusion that is very good. We just let our son decide where he wants to go, but we try go to a different place each home game week.

To answer another thread question, I have been to 3-4 practices, generally Sundays in pads. I think the offense is improving; generally defense is way ahead at this point in the year. Bardo will be the key and his passing. Run game looks fine.
