Temple Game Thread
The Flyers take on the Owls from Temple. Flap that wing Owl, you will need it.
The Owls took out Xavier in 5 sets (22, -20, 17, -14, 11) on Friday night in a matchup of 2-0 teams, so this game is now a matchup of 3-0 teams. Call it the Championship of the Philly matchups where you had 3 2-0 teams and an 0-2 team.
Is this Temple resurgance for real? Can we take them in 3 sets and prove a point? Will they drag us to a 5 set slobber-knocker?

I noticed just this morning that video is scheduled to be available for this match via Temple streaming. It is listed as premium ($$$).
I have a CBSSports.com ULive Monthly Subscription that I use to watch sports--mostly volleyball--at a large number of colleges. I have the $14.95/month subscription that allows me access to all the sites for which CBS provides streaming. (It was formerly called CBS All-Access.)
For instance, last night after the sweep by the Flyers, I watched Missouri vs. Texas A&M play.
Getting such a subscription is just an idea--if you have the time, money and inclination.
Go Flyers!

Yes its a good deal. I think instead of the monthly fee there is a choice of a annual one time fee of $99 which allows you to watch all ncaa sports that are streamed, not just vball.
Since I've been limited to my travels to games this is the second best choice.

3 sets or 5 I don't care so long as we get the "W".

The $14.95/month subscription allows viewing of all of the All-Access sports streamed by CBS College Network as well--not just volleyball. One can subscribe for only the months that they want and not incur costs for the months not desired or used.
Whichever method of payment, yearly or monthly, is best for the subscriber should be selected.
My wife and I feel it is a very good bargain. And, now--sheepishly--I will admit that during volleyball season we carry two separate accounts. Yes, sometimes we watch two matches at a time...
We drop one subscription at the end of women's volleyball season.

You are right, first and most importantly, you need to get the win! Yet, I suspect some AVCA poll voters might let "style-points" influence their voting a bit.

Seems like we're blocking very well at the net. Sheffer said in pregame that Temple plays a slow deliberate moon ball style, so perhaps we're reading it and dialing up the big hands at the net.

At halftime, the Flyers are up 2 sets to 0. (16, 18)
Krabacher with 8 kills followed by Megan and Isolde with 6 kills. Isolde leads the team with 9 block assists, and that is in 2 sets. Awesome!

Just for reference. The last time someone had at least 13 kills, and 11 block assists, was Lindsay Fletemier against Santa Clara in the 2010-11 season. She had 17 kills and 11 block assists. Oh, but that was in 5 sets.
Rock on Isolde!

She had a GREAT weekend in Philly. I agree she should get POW -- and she might win BOTH Offensive and Defensive. Her hitting percentage both matches was awesome and she racked up all those blocks.
It was a great weekend for the Z Fan Club President too (Figgie123). lol

When was the last time we had 18.5 blocks.
Here's Temple's coach on the beatdown:
"This is just a different level of competetion than we have faced all season long," said Temple head coach Bakeer Ganes. "It's a good learning experience for our team. We really can't afford to make mental mistakes against a team like that...we're having a good season obviously and doing much better than we did for the last few seasons, but we're still worlds away from a team like Dayton. We just have to get back to the gym and keep doing what we need to do in order to improve, and hopefully down the road we can close that gap and compete with a program like Dayton."

Using a standard block solos+(block assists/2), the max we've had since the 2008 season is 18.

Kelly said after the Red/Blue scrimmage that Isolde had shown a lot of improvement since last season.
It is nice to have internet access again, didn't have it for two weeks
