Somehow UD is within 10. It may have something to do with Miss. St. not being very good either.

Cut it to 5 and they hit 2 deep 3s. Now down 9 with balll.
2nd 3 in particular was a very low percentage shot.

Yes, the OB teams were worse. Think about losing to schools like Alaska-Anchorage, Missouri (Rolla or St. Louis). Our Flyers of that era achieved that level of success. In general, the talent level was less than necessary which was combined with coaching abilities that were severely lacking. We have become accustomed to having our team compete every game and so far this season, the Flyers are having trouble meeting that standard. It's hard to lower expectations for any team that represents UD.

No Quit
It has been really, really ugly, but I must admit that there is something to be said for a group that appears completely out of a contest, yet battles back. I think it says a little something about the coach and upper class men leadership.

20 turnovers.
40 points
I dont believe I have seen that ratio from us before. And if I did, I probably erased it from memory.
Time for a nightcap.

This type of determination to make a comeback, after being on the verge of a blowout, was not something that OB teams did, so there is hope.

In fact, they blew out the Flyers in the Arena. I was at that game. The game ended something like 82-57. Brother Fitz was one of the few spectators in the "prime seats" toward the end of the game. That was the lowest point in UD's basketball history.

Offensive foul call on Jordan Davis was B.S. They showed the replay, and the defender’s feet weren’t even close to set when Davis left his feet.

Looking much better when they push the ball - particularly after D rebounds. Of course, it helps when the other teams turns the ball over a ton as well.

The Flyers have definitely learned how to create turnovers. Something they struggled with in all previous games and even the first half of this game. Steals give you cheap buckets!

Darryl turns the ball over with six seconds to go. Sometimes he tries to take on the whole load of the game.

Use the timeout AG! Don't have Darrell go 1 on 1!

Very bad play by Darrell. Out of control with the ball and went way too early. He needs to learn to pass when double teamed.

Tough one. Great comeback as they had chances to push the ball more but when they have to play half court offense (like the last set) it's painful to watch.

DD, the fearless senior leader, all you have to do is not give them the ball no matter what. Epic fail!

Effectively had 2 possessions to win the game, and we get:
1.) Out of a timeout can't do any better than a long 3
2.) With the ball and a timeout, don't use it and turn it over
So we don't use the timeout, also Cunningham doesn't touch the ball. AG have some 'splaining to do.

As disappointed as I was early in the second half, I appreciate the team persevering and not just continuing the first 23 minutes of incessant turnovers and fouls.

We played three freshmen most of the second half and came all the way back from a 21 point deficit. A loss but all is not lost.

Someone else pointed we had a foul to give. Again, something you can remind a guy of during a timeout...

But that's what AG told him to do.
No excuse for AG not taking a timeout to set up a play.

Proud of the young guys and their defense getting back into this game. Don't know if I trust this set on the floor to grind out a bucket without calling a timeout and setting something up...

Darrell was driving with his weaker left hand. Ball got up and away from him.

Archie's first season team averaged 77.7 percent(that season we had 4 starers shoot over 80 percent(Kavs, Dillard, CJ, and Paul Williams, with Parker and DMO over 70 percent off the bench. Benson was the starter with under 70 percent but missed most of season). So far, this year ranks 2nd between then and now at 72.8(before tonight's game).

How fitting we lose on a turnover. When DD dribbled over Crutch needed to rotate his defender away from the ball. Freshman mistake and senior error
Could not be happier with the second half effort. Some very good defense and rebounding. We will build on that one. Glad to see Cunningham came alive. Kostas is lost on floor awareness. Crutcher is a stud. Matej looks better every game. If Williams can play like a junior, we may have a chance.

Got to say that I don’t see Mississippi State as that good a team despite its 7-0 record. This was one of their tougher games.
Glad to see that we were able to play hard after going down 21 but we had a golden opportunity for finish the job in an away game against a previously unbeaten team.
Hope we gained some good experience from this one.

Just told my buddy via text message...this type of in game SNAFU not calling a timeout with 3 freshman on the floor for a last look is what scares me. AG isn't a new coach. He will learn from this be he should know better. Worst case scenario it's a wash. At least there is some clock discipline instilled in the timeout and a set call.

I blame neither one of them. AG should have called a TO to set something up.
Instead he see DD with the ball and starts waving guys into spots to just let DD go 1 on 1. It seemed to me like it was a set the players weren't expecting and were confused by. You can't expect guys to do something at crunch time that they haven't practiced. A timeout would have eliminated that problem

50 turnovers tonight. Figgie needs to tell us when the last time Dayton played in a game with 50 combined pukes. If you have the answer, Ill tweet it out.

And if you get Figgie's attention, the last time we had a full game with zero assists and 7 turnovers from our PGs?

I dont believe I have seen that ratio from us before. And if I did, I probably erased it from memory.
Time for a nightcap.

26 turnovers, 59 pts = 44% of pts are turnovers
Nov 21, 2005 - Miami (Ohio) - 26 turnovers, 42 pts =62% (highest since 00-01 season)
Nov 27, 2010 - Cincinnati - 16 turnovers, 34 pts = 47% (last time 44% or higher)

Since 00-01, no. Since 00-01, most is 48 total turnovers against Georgia Tech, Nov 19, 2009.
