BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- Let’s face it, this has been a challenging season for the Red and Blue, no? So when does the cavalry come? Let’s climb up on the nearest hill, take a look at the horizon and see who the reinforcements are:
-- “The Big Equalizer” AKA 2011 UD signee Percy Gibson had 23 points and 15 boards in the Detroit Southeastern HS victory over Detroit King:

Southeastern faces Detroit Cody Friday night for the PSL Championship.
-- Meanwhile, Percy’s future UD classmate LaDontae “Buckets” Henton had 27 for Lansing Eastern in a 68-53 non-league win over Owosso HS.
Gotta love the title of this blog piece by Tom Markowski of
The Detroit News “Lovin' it doesn't mean you're winnin' it.” Translation: just because OSU signee Amir Williams of Detroit Country Day made the Mickey D’s All-American squad is no guarantee that he will be Michigan Mr. Basketball:

-- This is interesting: According to Scout.com, 2012 SG Tamron Manning of Scott County (KY) HS finally got the offer he was looking for from UD, but now a lot of other schools are trying to jump into the mix. I was gonna post a freebie link to the article here, but it was switched to premium content. However, when you look at Tamron’s profile on Scout.com, there is no mention of Dayton at all:

Turns out, Manning
doesn't have an offer from UD, according to a Tweet exchange with Matt Schwade at FlyerHoops.net. Regardless of what the profile shows, the Scout.com article says and Manning has Tweeted that he will be in UD Arena to see the UD/X game on the 27th, as will I. One guy who won’t be there is
The Sporting News’ Mike DeCourcy who will be taping his show for the Big Ten Network at that time on Sunday.
-- Watch this highlight tape of 2012 PF Elijah Macon of Marion Franklin (OH) HS and you can readily see why BG wants him in a Red and Blue uni:

-- Here’s a new name for 2012 according to Chicago Hoops: Chicago Homewood-Flossmoor (IL) HS SG Delvon Rencher:

-- TJ Kelly of Inside Prep Sports says on his site’s MB that UD hosted Flint Carman-Ainsworth (MI) HS sophomore PG Denzell Watts and Detroit Cass Tech (MI) HS sophomore SF Leo Edwards at the
Temple game over the weekend.
Next Generation Sports provides a synopsis of Watts’ last game vs. Saginaw Buena Vista:

-- “Little Luke” AKA 6’10” SF 2011 Brian Fabrizius of Kimball Union (NH) Academy has decided to play in the Ivy League next year at Princeton:

-- Former Flyers and current Euro League hoopsters Rob Lowery and
London Warren should be up for the lead roles in this bio pic:

Altho when I saw LW at the NMU game his hair was shorter than mine.
-- It ain’t easy being a Division 1 head coach. Just ask former Flyer Anthony Grant:

-- Or Sidney Lowe at UNC. Among the names being bandied about to replace the Wolfpack player/legend is that of one
Brian Gregory:

-- The “Captain Optimism Sweet Tweet of the Week” comes to us from the Voice of the Flyers,
Larry Hansgen:
“Flyers flying to Charlotte later today looking for their first win ever there. Team is due for a big game. I can feel it.”
Let’s hope he’s right!
