Best Flyers never to have played in the NCAA
We’ve had a lot of great players; we’ve had a lot of success in the NCAA. But we’ve had some incredible players who never danced on the biggest stage. With that in mind, here’s my take on the All-Time-Never-Danced Flyer Team. (Note: I only considered post 1971 since the NCAA decreed that year that any team offered an NCAA bid had to play in the NCAA or be banned from post-season competition).
PG: Derrick Dukes (Clutcher will make it this year)
SG: BRob
SF: Jim Paxson Jr.
PF: Obi
C: Chris Daniels

Gotta find a way to get Perryman in there. Maybe Roberts, Paxson, Obi, Perryman, Daniels.

Agreed, Perryman is certainly on that team, whether as a starter or off the bench. I put BRob at his natural position, but I like your lineup too.

Jack Zimmerman, Kevin Conrad, Irv Giddings and especially Mike Kanieski come to mind.
And let's not forget all the greats who played through the Blackburn years after he refused to ever play in again for good reason.

Agree on the early players, especially Uhl. In retrospect, although we got shafted at Illinois in TB's only NCAA, I thought he was a bit pig headed in not returning. As soon as DD took over we put on our dancing shoes.

Perryman needs to be on there. And Chip Jones over Dukes.

True, but I had to throw them in when speaking of the best flyers. And they did play in the NCAA. The title said those players who never played in the NCAA.

Go Back to the Blackburn Days
and your list gets much longer. He played in one NCAA and set an NCAA tournament record for fouls called against his team. After that Dayton went exclusively to the N.I.T. Both Donoher and Bockhorn would be on the list.
