Life Goes On

BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- I’m sure that you will all join me in thanking the Atlantic 10 scheduling gods for giving the Flyer Faithful an entire week to stew in our own juices after yet another heartbreaker at the University of Norwood.

As the Beatles so aptly put it:

Ob-la-di, ob-la-da life goes on, brah
Lala how the life goes on

While we all wait for the Fordham game on Saturday to hurry up and arrive so the Flyers can ram it to the Rams, here is some linkage to keep our feeble minds occupied:

-- Linky goodness to a really nice profile on the best in the business, UD Director of Media Relations Doug Hauschild:

http://www.catholicsportsjournal.com...oug-hauschild/

-- While we are on the subject of ‘nice profiles’ this one from ESPN.com on the Daugherty sisters ain’t too bad either:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncw/column...ham&id=5999050

-- UD Assistant Coach Jon Borovich has some good things to say about PW in his latest blog item from College Chalk Talk:

-- For those of you who just can’t wait until next year, here is what UMHoops.com had to say about 2011 recruit LaDontae “Buckets” Henton:

LaDontae Henton (6-foot-5, 2011) It was vintage “Buckets” yesterday. In Lansing Eastern’s game against Saginaw, there was a small scuffle near the beginning of the game that Henton was wrapped up in. Up to that point, he hadn’t done much in the game. Whatever was said in the dust-up with the Saginaw players, it made him very angry. Henton went on a tear, driving to the basket, cleaning the offensive glass and locking down Tommie McCune. At the end of the game, he had racked up 29 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks. When he decides he’s getting to the basket, there are very few players — if any — who can stop him in the state of Michigan. Dayton is getting a heck of a player.

If you are scoring at home, Tommie McCune is headed to the Big East to play for Huggy Bear U. Yeah, I would say UD is getting a heck of a player, alright.

My one wish is that once he gets to UD that “Buckets” be appreciated simply for what he is -- an undersized PF with tremendous instincts around the hoop-- and not for his NBA potential. Call it avoiding the “CW Curse” if you like.

-- In the amazing shots department, this kid named Austin Groff from Twin Valley South has become a YouTube sensation for his backwards buzzer beater:

-- While looking for the video of Austin’s shot on YouTube I found this one that, unlike Groff’s, actually won the game for his squad:

-- Can’t say that I have ever seen this occur during a basketball game:

-- And I definitely have never seen this happen at a hockey game:

-- Looks like former UC player Lance “Born Ready” Stephenson was right all along. He was “born ready”…for the NBDL:

-- On a more uplifting note, this is a great piece by Arch at the DDN on sophomore James McGraw III of Dayton Dunbar HS:

-- When I grow up, I want to be Ralph Lauren. Not for the clothes, but for his car collection:

-- Nat Geo with some amazing pictures of the ‘infinite cave’ in Vietnam:

That’s it “From the Swamp.”

Here's a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don't worry, be happy
In every life we have some trouble
When you worry you make it double
Don't worry, be happy
Don't worry, be happy now

Oo, oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo
Don't worry
Oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo
Be happy
Oo-oo-oo-oo-oo
Don't worry, be happy

The Flyers might be in a funk
But they have the talent to beat the trend
If they play with fire in every game
They can make us all happy again
Don't worry, be happy
Don't worry, be happy now
