MSOC: Dayton Blanks Oakland 3-0
Game Recap: http://www.udpride.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33359
Offense was dangerous and finished chances. Defense got the shutout. The second half was pretty even, but we'd done enough in the first half to win this and get the points.
We'll take it.

Pretty good match. Thought we got a bit lackadaisical in the second half, but that is really being nit-picking. The dummy by Olandeinbo was as pretty as it gets. Nothing like getting a well-deserved assist without even touching the ball. I thought he did the same thing against SBU, but it was so well disguised that it looked like a whiff, but was really a neat dummy. Oakland is on top of the Horizon so a quality win. We have been playing pretty solid soccer the last month or so in spite of some unlucky referee decisions leading to those 2 OT losses. The upcoming match against SLU on Saturday should be a good one.

The one thing to keep in mind is Oakland held 7-8 starters out from their normal rotation who had started every game or nearly every game this year. Even the goalkeeper who had started every game this year did not play vs Dayton. We basically beat Oakland's second team.
Oakland's starting XI tonight had 33 combined starts among their 11 players -- thats an average of 3 starts per position.
Not sure we would have beaten their first team. Take our best 6-8 guys off the field -- the Fjeldbergs, Oladeinbos, Adjeis, Barrios', Augs, etc and we'd be hard press to be competitive with anybody.
