LSU and Arizona

Some of the truth will eventually come out. Wade, Miller and Self. Some of the coaches will never be caught, that is what Kansas is mad about, that Self got caught and others didn't.

A lot of coaches are dirt, just not as bold as Wade.

Wow, Forde got into the nitty-gritty. Iona hiring Rick . . . didn't Valvano stretch the rules there with Jeff Ruland? And coaches that never got caught . . . sometime listen to Knight on his lack of admiration for John Wooden. Claims the Wizard of Westwood broke a lot of rules in his time. In case you missed it, here's Forde report on the Flyers' magical season and his tour of the ghetto on GameDay: https://www.si.com/college/2020/03/1...jection-sunday

I wonder if there is more to the tapes related to other schools/coaches?

Doesn't sound like it, but IIR Bill Self was mentioned in the articles last year.

These coaches get $$$ millions in pay, endorsements and bonuses.

They should pay the players to come play for them using their own money! Ok Ok Just joking!!!!!!!!!

When Dawkins was arrested in the hotel he was offered to wear a wire or get a lawyer, he chose the lawyer.
"But it was inside the W hotel that the government's hopes of bringing down kingpins of college basketball died. Dawkins was never going to rat out the coaches to the feds or directly to the NCAA. "

Nothing has happened and nothing will.

The coaches all stonewall. They have everything to lose by telling the truth so they lie and hope nobody spills the beans or has a tape (oops)

Yes, the fines are a joke, but it’s the post season bans that will hurt. Good luck recruiting when you tell a kid “we can’t go to a post season tourney”.

It's crazy how he immediately became crooked upon arrival at LSU and not a moment before.

imagine if we had hired bob huggins instead of JOB? although i doubt tom frericks and gerry faust would have let that happen ...

no doubt the bigger programs receive more scrutiny, but you think they'd realize that and invest more in compliance or at least covering their tracks.

for myself, i hope we never have a sean miller or will wade at dayton, and hope archie didn't learn too much from his older brother.

i also don't think paying players in a panacea. once the checkbook comes out, you need a whole other layer of enforcement, and we can't enforce the simpler rules we have now. if it becomes a glorified pro farm system, then let colleges remain amateur, with both the NFL & NBA having a "G League" for great athletes who never wanted to pursue a degree anyway.

Given the closeness of the family, John, the dad, being ever-present, and Archie serving on Sean's Arizona staff, I'd be pretty surprised if Archie wasn't pretty closely applying Sean's coaching playbook.

Hopefully, we never find out, but for anyone thinking Dayton's above paying players (one way or another), I've got bad news for you. It happens at schools smaller and less prestigious than Dayton.

And don't forget Archie and Sean are cousins to John Calipari and he has been a mentor to both of them, especially Archie.

Huggins wanted the UD job, Brother Fitz wouldn't allow it. Not sure about Tom Frericks, but Gerry Faust was part of the connection that got UD looking at Huggins.

I think Dayton has the support system where this isn't needed. Archie never really targeted Top 100 guys consistently with Arch. In fact, he kind of stayed away from them. Kostas was the only one that kind of raised an eyebrow but he was a partial qualifier which hurt his recruiting.

That being said, I know there is a ton of affinity for Archie but I was never a huge fan of the way he handled players during games and his nonchalant attitude didn't resonate with many.

I'm pretty happy with CAG both as a man and coach

The LSU situation is baffling. What kind of dirt does he have on the AD to remain head coach at this point?

As for Dayton, it can happen here to. Who knows with Archie, but just like I'm not my brother, neither is he. He's also no longer the coach of UD. Seems to me CAG is a pretty straight arrow and I believe we're in good hands.
