Duquesne game
Omogrosso, Lass, Szamosi - experienced Dukes from past years to watch out for tomorrow night. Two wins in a row for the Dukes after that painful performance against GW at home when they were losing 31-7 after the first quarter. Quick turnaround - was hoping for an extra day's rest especially for Jenna and Kelley since I'm not sure they'll get much if any relief from the bench.

Looks like Ja Lay got the message from the last game and is playing within her skill set so far.

10-2 Flyers at 3:59 of qtr 1. Good "D" so far. refs are letting them play rather than call a bunch of girly ticky tack fouls.

14-10 Flyers end of qtr 1. Desperation trey by the Dukes at the buzzer.

7-8 TOs. All of them unforced. Not a single one was from defensive pressure on the ball. Also have missed 4 point blank layups and gave up a 4pt play, committed 4-5 offensive fouls, and have given up almost 10 offensive rebounds. Flyers should be up 12-17pts right now.

We had 5 turnovers (or was it six) in the first Q but has only turned it once or twice this Q. sitting at 7 right now

Nice half from SGA. Harris really struggled. Giacone shows no interest in hitting the boards, seems a very lazy player.

Our problems feeding the post, from my observations in practices we run these plays with no defenders which makes it easy to pass into the post. Come game time there are defenders and they don't have the experience to guage how to feed with a defender in place.

Interesting perspective. They play against a practice team, I think. Don't they defend?

Luckily, Duquesne is playing just as sloppy as the Flyers...
On another note, what's with the color guy and the "Trey Cafe?"

Possibly but the two videos I saw were with UD on the road so I am guessing the practice squad don't travel with them.

56-41 Flyers end of 3. Dennis has a great quarter then pulls one of the all time blunders trying to inbound the ball with 3 seconds left. Throws the ball away and Dukes get a deuce at the buzzer. Absolutely inexcusable.

Her 1000 point and a "W", which she prefers more. Congrats Kelley.
While still sloppy there does appear to be some life by a few players not named Austria or Burdette. Think were making progress...sorta

75-64 Flyers final. 11-25 from trey. Austria with 18 but 5 turnovers. Flyers had 16 turnovers total. Layfield with an excellent game -15 points and a perfect 6-6 from the line. It was pretty much settled in the third quarter when Dennis lit it up - until her screw-up with 3 seconds left in the quarter. Fourth quarter was not pretty. Too many turnovers. Still, take the win and get out of town.

Austria (1005) only needs 8 to equal Kizzy Dawson (1013) for #23 all-time.

Won the game in the 3rd qtr. Duquesne coughed it up way too much that qtr. Dennis with some big shots in 4th to extend lead to 17-18 but we then sniffed the chloroform again with fouling and bad TOs to make it interesting. Layfield got it done at the line.
The in-bounds pass/steal that led to a Duq three at the end of the 3rd qtr should cost you 50 miles of extra running. Not on the treadmill. But outside. That's the kind of thing that can and will lose you a one-possession game. Completely unforced but you could see it happening 2 seconds before the ball was thrown by the way Dennis was leaning.
We're still in the playing ugly winning ugly stage in my opinion. But, better than where we started. If we play clean, we win by 30 tonight. Cant measure ourselves against the competition but rather against our own expectations.
Thought the refs were terrible both ways. Jennas and-1 that was wiped away was atrocious.

About 4 of the last 5 TO's were caused by the refs just letting them go and a ton of body pushing to get travel call and Kelley's last TO.
Real nice to see Layfield go 6-6 from the Ft line in the last couple minutes.

Duquesne coach not a fan of tonight's officials (~3:10) and a great take on Grant-Allen (~4:30).

Credit the guy for telling it as he saw it. My guess is every coach feels the same often times. I also notice that one official dominates the foul calls. Not sure why that is, but might be an interesting state to consider.
Glad we won.

Great win, because as someone pointed out they are finishing games now and winning (4 of last 5). I did not get to see the game, so no comments here.
Next one is a big one, at St Louis. No one is all that great in the A10. No one sniffing a vote in the Top 25. Fordham and St Louis have beaten only pedestrian teams and lost to some of them, so the Flyers time is now. They can win this thing.

As Chris and others have said there is still a lot of room for improvement. But, the most important thing is that they are learning to win. If they can somehow win the A10 Shauna should get her first coach of the year award.
Thanks for the coach interview link, he doesn't hide from questions
