How Bad Will He Get
Baby Dork is getting schooled on defense and bricking everything he shoots. Lets hope everyone else picks him up, playing 4 on 5 for 20 minutes is a crappy disadvantage to contend with.
Come on Flyers hold on!

the dynamic duo DD and Crosby, what a tandem. DD made a breakaway layup but only after rattling it around a lot and throws in a gratuitous 3 after the game is out of reach. In between a total crap out by both against an awful DU squad. How did we ever wind up with two players this poor? You'd think that just by playing with the rest of the team something would click just by osmosis. And why can't Archie help them??

Unless DD improves significantly, I'm going to go out on a limb and say his minutes will actually decrease next year. Both N. Carter and J. Davis will leapfrog him on the depth chart.
I see freshmen guards for both UMass and Duquesne playing much better than DD. Nothing leads me to believe our freshmen next year won't do the same.

JC just a lazy defender. Has all that energy (too much most of the time) on the offensive end but just plain lazy on defense. Even defending under the basket inbounds. Why would he defend against the pass going to the corner, allowing a friggin' layup? How about a film session(s)?

Don't see that. You're losing SS, KD and CC and you expect freshmen to cut back his minutes. No way. That would mean you'd expect our Freshman to be as good or better than the above 3 as seniors.

Classless
I find the name calling and demeaning attacks upon college kids disgusting. Yes, they make mistakes, frustrate us, and may not live up to our expectations, however, they play hard, and for the team for which you consider yourself a fan? I say grow up or get lost. I for one am ashamed to be a part of the same fan base as some of these morons.

Darrell's defense is probably in the top 5 on the team when guarding one on one. Our team defense is what is winning games for us. The help defense, the trapping, the secondary shot blocking, the quick hands making steals, are all what fuels us.
You whiners about DD's D never answer the question of who are you going to put in for Darrell on defense that is better at the position he is playing?
On the other hand, his offense is seriously flawed. Don't think I have ever cheered so hard for a shot to go in.
Sometimes I think a valium would calm him down and get rid of the twitchy delivery. He made one 3 with the game almost over, and another when a foul was called off the ball and 3 didn't count. I can't figure out where his mechanics went south, and why he can't get it back.

Whinner here! I'd play Mikesell. Move X down low. He's not great on the baseline anyway.
As to blocks, we don't lose much because DD has.... zero. He's not much for steals and when he gets one he's just as likely to fumble it. We simply are too limited with a kid who has no offensive game at all. How can we get where we need to be with a <30% shooter .What other elite teams tolerate that?

The question is not blocks and steals, it's how much does his opponent score while guarded by DD. I have no idea but to base it on blocks and steals is well, stupid.

Mikesell does not have the quickness to guard any of the 2s and 3s DD is guarding. He struggles to stay in front of the 4's he is guarding sometimes. As frustrated as everybody is with DD's offense I don't think there is anyway Mikesell can guard those guys.
I really don't think Archie wants to play DD as much as he has the last two games, but Scoochie's foul trouble has messed up the substitution pattern. Also DD starting and Cooke coming off the bench has altered the subs too. Hopefully Cooke starts the next game and Archie gets back to the substitution pattern he was using before Cooke got hurt.

If these so called kids have to earn and accept grades in their classes, they should be able to handle 'grades' on their play.

Sorry, but Ryan in not in the top 5 on defense. DD has become part of a team defense that is why we have a small chance to get a bid this season while lacking a center.
Have a feeling we have several really negative posters on here who never played the game in their life. But get a really big kick out swapping ignorance on a message board.

So you have? How many teammates did you have to pick up and pull their weight for? I think Maddog and Archie miller lite have valid points. Grow a pair. Stop being a blind apologist. The drooling you've spewed over DD makes me want to stick a fork in my eye.

So we are not allowed to point out the positive things our starting guard brings to the table next season? Don't worry about the fork thing, you couldn't be any more blind.
And yes, I did play more than you'll ever know.

Yeah, well I stand by it. Selfish play is NIT play. Stupid is slobbering over the guy no matter how bad he plays. Stupid is trying to deflect his bad play over to two backup players. Stupid is not recognizing how much better this team has played the past 3.5 seasons when CC is either not on the team or not active for the game. Stupid is you.
And here's another one for you. Charles Cooke will never be on an NBA team for a whole month if ever. He's not a good enough shooter and he's too egotistical to succeed as a support player. Heck, he can't even handle the ball well and he certainly isn't a passer.

Cooke has skills, and yes, he displays them inconsistently mainly due to selfish play. And if saying that he's most likely better as a 5th year senior than a first year Freshman is going to be, is defending him, guilty as charged. If he would think team first, he'd be a great asset. Time's running out and I ain't holding my breath.

I agree that CC sometimes out runs the offense, gets impatient, and hogs the ball. He's also recognized by everyone in the media as our best player. That's saying a mouthful when Scoochie plays on your team too.

They use that term loosely. The media tends to look at a team's top scorer and label him "best player" if they're not real familiar with the team. Scoochie Smith is a better player, playing a position where the stats aren't going to scream out to them. KD also, mainly because he gives you what you expect every game. Both are better players to me than Cooke is.
The problem with Cooke is simple. He could score the same amount of points in less amount of shots if he'd just play team offense and wait his turn. If he does that, he scores the same and others score more.

I love the people that get on this and every other site and spin their venom about people that they have never even met. It is so easy to sit behind a keyboard and act like a tough guy. Now we have people that are name calling. My guess is that if you have to use your real name you wouldn't be quite so boisterous. If you don't have the balls to say it to their face, shut the hell up.

Throw a UD Men's Basketball Board party and we'll all wear username tags(except for Rollo, we'll all know who he is by the ridiculous looking crown) and we can all go face to face.

Criticisms and comments are encouraged. Name calling is juvenile and won't be tolerated here. If you want to go keyboard to keyboard take it to private messages. Nobody wants to waste their time wading through this dreck trying to find a reasonable basketball discussion.
