Great story
From a Virginia paper . . . assume the Don in question was a teammate and not his coach

Enjoyed reading that story. Harry Baujan was the head coach, probably the Harry named in the postcard. Don could have been an assistant when he played.

Interesting that in a postcard dated September 30,1943 he asks how the season is coming along. In looking at UD football history, there was no football at UD from 1943-1945 due to the war.

That's correct, but if he was captured in Tunisia . . . that could have been as early as 1942, and he wouldn't have known about the schedule being put on hold . . . I was checking, assume it was his teammate, Don Pinciotti . . . https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/to...929&fhid=27577
In any event, this is the kind of story that Arch would love.
