U of St. Thomas
Assume most know St. Thomas will be joining or has joined the Pioneer League . . . based in St. Paul. Only thing I know about the school is in the summer of '69, after spending two years at a jc in upstate NY . . . my folks were hoping I'd transfer to a Catholic college . . . I inquired about St. Thomas College (at the time) . . . I received a two -page handwritten (in green ink) note from the priest that was the admissions director. From Dayton . . . a short typewritten note . . . you're in, send a deposit!

I am assuming the typewritten note was effective.

There's Army-Navy, Harvard-Yale, Alabama-Auburn . . . and there used to be St. Thomas-St. John's, coached by the late, great John Gagliardi (sp) . . . not any longer though.

The Tommies sure expanded their footprint by joining the Pioneer league. What used to be short bus trips has expanded to cross country flights and long bus trips. St thomas could do well in the Pioneer, was a top 20 D-III program and while it is a step up, it isn't as big a step as the other teams that are entering the scholarship Summit league.
The Tommies and the Blue Hose will get us back to 11 teams. Good for the conference after some recent program defections. Would hate to see the non-scholly program shut down, it is a great fit for UD and like institutions.

I wish more schools would look at this model. It works for a lot of schools.
