Welcome Stadium
In case any of you Flyer football junkies are interested.

The best use for Welcome would be added parking for UD Arena and build a new football stadium elsewhere!

This may be an opportunity for UD to put in it's two cents and end up with a moderm facility that would be more "friendly" for the university's needs. DPS probably isn't going to be open to making it a parking lot as thay would have the expense of securing new land, and the current location fills their needs. It will be interesting to follow this and see what turns up. It is true that expanded parking would be a plus for the Arena.

Maybe UD can offer to partner with the city and build a new stadium on some of the old NCR property

Fairfield Univ.
About 5 years ago FU built a brand new, from scratch, lacrosse stadium on the site of its football field. The facility is state of the art and quite beautiful. seating is 3500. I have been in this stadium and was thinking about UD at the time. The cost was about $11-12 million as I recall. And the design is such that expansion to 5000-7500 would be easy for another $1-2 million.
Re Welcome, ~$10 million is quite a bit for renovating a facility the size of WS. Whatever, UD should definitely have a seat at the table and a check book. This is an opportunity for UD to buy its way into a better deal with the City having as an outcome a ~10,000 seat-class stadium that is the best in the Country.
UD wouldn't want to foot a $10-15 million price tag itself. But with ~$5 million of UD money and $10 million from the City....and a deal that's good for UD... this could be a great addition to our sports complex.

It’s only ~ $1000.00 per seat to renovate! LMAO
