City of Dayton drops the ball?

Wonder why the City of Dayton and UD didn’t take advantage of a great opportunity.

NFL offered 400k to build a field in Dayton for the Bengals one day practice. This was to celebrate the 100th NFL season where it all began with the Dayton Triangles. I was just wondering if maybe since the City of Dayton turned down the idea to build a new field at original site maybe improvements could have been made to Welcome , which is where Bengals practiced which would have benefitted not only UD Flyers but the local HS teams as well. Pure speculation if that even could have been done.

New NFL field is being placed at Kettering Field.

On another note -
Welcome Stadium is used very infrequently anymore. Yes, city league teams play there but draw only a few fans. Few other teams play there anymore - CJ has their own new field. There have been so many new turf fields built around the area in the last few years that most teams rarely go to Welcome anymore. Even decent sized fan bases look small at Welcome. I don't think the OHSAA has put any playoff games there recently either - perhaps a bit of payback for the poor management and lawsuits from the city league teams.
UD - between practice and games - may use the facility as much as anyone.
