We are fortunate to be going to OT. Take advantage of their foul trouble.

And they didn’t. Crutch misses open 3 at end of regulation. Jordan misses open 3 with 20 seconds in OT. Then Crutch misses layup with 9 seconds left

To come out and lay an egg like this against a young, mediocre team is totally senseless. The two guards better bring their games next year or they will be sitting and/or transferring.

Man this hurts.
We have no margin for error, and when players don’t show up to play we lose.
We have no one to blame but ourselves—our guards to be exact.

This team outshot Rhode island, outrebounded them, had **** near half the fouls and made six times the amount of free throws than RI did..
You simply cannot turn the ball over 20 times. Just when you thought this team was turning the corner and maybe being able to close out a game or so they revert right back.

I hope the guys sitting on the bench waiting for next year are as good as advertised, because we have too many guys who are average at best on this year's team
Well at least we can dispense with the at large bull**it. A-10 tourney or bust.

That hurt big time. Landers and Cunningham have gone away and flat out hid.
Cunningham with 4 points, 5 rebounds and 2 turnovers.
Landers with 0 points, 4 rebounds and 3 turnovers.
Why is Landers in with 4 seconds to go and we need a three point shooter? Instead we pass it all the way down and get a forced no shot by Landers.

Crutcher flat out ate up Fatts Russel last game on defense. Tonight he had 23pts 6 rebounds 5 assists and 3 turnovers. Crutcher had poor effort and Fatts had Jalen's picture on his locker with an arrow through it.

At least Cohill can score. I like Trey and he brings a lot to the team (he could also kick my ass badly), but he is bringing nothing on offense (probably shoulder related). Point is, Trey is not the guy you go to in crunch time in this game. Zero points, 3 turnovers. He tried to drive the lane earlier in OT (while Josh was riding the pine) and just flat out lost the ball on a crucial possession. I know Josh was also not bringing it tonight, but I think you gotta have your Senior leader in there in the OT. He only has a few more games in the Dayton uniform. Let the Big Dog eat. AG finally brought him in late in OT and he drew a nice charge.

Trey has a nice story and I am sure he is a great dude but let's be honest. On any at large NCAA team (which is what we need and want to be), he does not play more than five minutes, if that.

Huh? Cohill, Jordan, Obi, Jalen and Ryan with no shooting Josh, Landers and Frankie sitting. There were 4 seconds to push the ball and get an outside shot.
Landers is 16% from three and Cohill is 23%.
I love, love Grant, but he miscoached that one.

My best guess is he wanted to make sure we got a rebound if the FT was missed, hence Trey in the game.

And frankly, that’s about what he is likely to get next year. He is extremely limited on the offensive end of the court.

I'm not sure I agree with this. While we weren't at-large material last year, Trey had a very productive season, offensively too. And look at some of the games he's had this year - against at-large teams like Butler, Oklahoma and Auburn. He averaged 10 points and over 9 rebounds a game in those 3 games, basically a double/double. Had 9 and 4 against Virginia. Last year, he shot 35% from 3FG on 19/54, decent sample size. And he's a solid FT shooter at over 70% between this year and last year.
He's certainly regressed this year on the offensive end, and this was clear before his shoulder got hurt. But to suggest that he'd be a cast off or bench material if we were an "at-large" team is simply not accurate or fair. We've had other players who have proven to be solid contributors on at-large caliber teams who couldn't throw it in the ocean from beyond 15 feet - London Warren comes to mind.
I personally didn't have a problem with him being in the game the final possession/during the RI free throw. The problem I had was with Crutcher's decision to throw him the ball where he did. You could argue that if Cohill were in, he could have/would have stopped as soon as he caught it, set his feet and perhaps got off a better attempt. But Cohill is 7-30 on 3FG this year and has demonstrated that he really doesn't want to be taking those shots.
The real problem I had was with Crutcher's read/decision. I think he had a better chance to keep dribbling to create a shot of his own or wait another second to see if another option developed for Obi or someone else. I may have to go look at the play again, but that was my initial thought while watching it live. Maybe my recollection is jaded, but it would be par for the course for Friday night's game, because Crutcher was not good Friday night.

Seems your analysis centers on the last play. Trey stunk it up for a full 20 minutes. He made no, zero, nada contributions on offense and was in fact a detriment to it. Sure he’s had a few decent outings ( curiously mostly in losses) but he can’t dribble, shoots poorly and is very susceptible to being blocked. Having him as anything more than a minor role player keeps us at the mediocre level. Hes undersized and slow. He’s not the talent level needed to get to the NCAA’s. If he gets more that 10 minutes a game next year we are lost.

I have to disagree with your analysis. Trey got the rebound off that last URI free throw miss and fed it to Crutcher. Trey then made it down court and nearly got the winning tip-in. He also got a monster offensive board at the beginning of OT that led to a Mikesell bucket that gave us the lead in OT. He also had a bad turnover in OT. We really need his rebounding on this team and I believe we would have won at home over VCU if he had played - as VCU killed us on the offensive glass.

Having him as anything more than a minor role player keeps us at the mediocre level. Hes undersized and slow. He’s not the talent level needed to get to the NCAA’s. If he gets more that 10 minutes a game next year we are lost.

You must have missed the factual analysis in my first two paragraphs. But that of course that flies in the face of your argument that Landers is worthless.
You simply read what you want to read. Your hatred for Landers is reaching a new level, surpassing udscott’s towards AG.
