Dayton vs. North Carolina
Oh no! Gametracker says 20-9 in favor of North Carolina!
What's happening?

Last I heard the radio feed had the Flyers down big in the second. Announcer commented that they were completely outplayed. Been in and out of my office so don't know where they're at now

They haven't posted stats yet but it sounds like Alaina led the team with 10 kills and Jill had 6 kills. This team is going to have trouble winning if Megan has less than six kills. Megan is a great player but it is much harder getting the ball to a middle hitter than to an outside hitter

Every team the Flyers play knows they must shut down the middles based Campbell's and Hannan's reputation. Those teams also should know that the Flyers don't have any battleship guns at outside hitter. It should be fairly easy to put together a defense against the Flyers.
Okay, I'm going to say it--based upon not seeing the match, not knowing much about the opponent, just listening to coach Affolder in the post-match interview and plain old guessing quite a bit: I believe the Flyers may have put together a game plan based too much on very-early-season DataVolley statistics and based too little on what the Flyers need to do this early in the season to be successful against just about any ol' team. Just my very shaky two-cents worth--or less.

I told Beckystxa that I would double block megan on everything and dare someone else to win the match. Any decent coach will come to the same conclusion, it just depends upon whether he/she has the personel to pull it off.
Then you add that setting the middle requires good passing and it makes things even tougher for Megan.
They need Alaina and Jill to play at a higher level and they are capable of doing that. Playing at a higher level means going line at times to keep the defense honest.
This team will get better

There is a good interview with Coach on daytonflyers.com now. He talks about the team not playing with courage and not executing the game plan.
