A lot of the focus on this game will be the homecoming for Libby Bazelak from Alter who sported a 115-5 record there. After averaging seven points a game last year she is having quite a season, 13 points, six rebounds 50% from three point land and 66 assists to only 36 turnovers all while playing 35 minutes a game. It is almost a letdown that the leading scorer for a team that is so often the United Nations of college basketball is from barely 250 miles from campus. But there's nothing disappointing about Libby Bazelak's development to the fringes of the mid-major player-of-the-year debate as a junior.

Flyers shot 33% that half, Dukes only 24%. Dukes only 1-11 from three. Our defense has been very good. Offensively, we continue to throw up wild shots at times. Thought the press really took the Dukes by surprise and blew up their rhythm.

Same ole story for last several games. Outstanding defense and poor to mediocre offense. Good for 6 wins in a row. Flyers shoot 32% and Dukes shoot 27%. Dukes only 2-17 from trey (12%).
The full court press early completely affected the game. It got Duquesne out of sorts and in an up and down game. If only we could learn how to make layups.

Hard to win by double digits shooting 32% FG, but Duquesne couldnt throw it in the ocean. Defense was very good but the Dukes also missed a ton of open shots.

As for our offense, Lordy. Time and again our undersized 5ft-nothing guards over-penetrated and got stuffed by the trees. They need to stop and pop from 8-10ft and not lose their only advantage -- quickness. Were it Austria or even Burdette with some more size, penetrating deeper might make sense. But you are asking way too much for 5ft 2in players to finish against 6ft 3in players that can block those shots without even needing to jump.

We also took some rushed shots elsewhere on the floor, but thats in large part due to the reasons we've discussed in the past -- not enough athletic ability to create separation and get good uncontested looks where the player is squared up.

The A10 is weaaaaaak this year however so every game is actually winnable. I doubt the offense gets much better but I think our defense can still keep us in some games and grind out some Ws. I liked the press. We need to speed the game up because scoring in the halfcourt set is our weakest trade at the moment.

I have been critical of Coach Green, but now I give her kudos. She has almost no offensive weapons, recognizes it, and gets her team to play great defense. Not an easy thing to do. Get the most from what you have and do what you do well.

Nice to see some support for the coach here. The defense especially denying Libby was tremendous. The three athletes who have been dubbed Mc Donald’s all Americans coming in next year I hope can shoot along with the two players out with acl injuries. Three points about last night don’t underestimate the 12 rebounds Whitehead had, the eight first quarter points for Chandler and Jayla rounding back into form. By the way if Duquesne comes back for the a ten tournament watch bazelak distribute the ball .
